The experiments on Volunteers are an immense success - they are strong, unbeatable, resilient warriors - but trying to create a higher, more powerful form of these creatures has proven to be a task much harder than I predicted.

The only one who survived my trials, though incredibly strong, seems to also be deeply emotionally broken. The beast constantly howls like a wounded animal, paces aimlessly around its cell or bangs its head on the wall. A pitiful picture to witness.

I often find it rocking back and forth on the floor, like the children I saw in the orphanage - that's why I decided to call the creature The Orphan.

I caught him trying to pry the door hinges loose; he wants to escape. I fear that one day he might actually succeed. I'll have to keep a close watch on this beast.

Pitiful as he is, he is also deadly.
