Purging the Path
Purging the Path is a Dark and Darker quest assigned by the Treasurer merchant, part of the Future Investments quest line. There’s a definite darkness to the chalice you found. While it’s still being researched, I’ve been informed that there were many pieces used in the original ceremony, fragments we still don’t fully understand. My contact is still digging deeper, but it’s suggested that the answers to some of these missing pieces may lie within the King’s Treasure Room. However, we’ll need to clear out any undead protectors lingering there before we can get close to the truth. Once you’ve dealt with the threats inside, come see me. We may be closer than we think, but this task is far from over. There are 3 objectives to complete: Explore Treasure Room; Kill 1× Skeleton Champion; Kill 1× Wraith. All progress requires a successful extraction — items retrieved or kills made during a failed run do not count toward quest completion. Once every objective is fulfilled, return to Treasurer in the lobby to turn in the quest and receive the reward. This quest requires completing Ceremonial Cup before it becomes available from Treasurer. Completing Purging the Path rewards 100 Gold, 4x Arcane Essence, 200 XP. The quest is completed in Ruins. Merchant quests in Dark and Darker are one of the most consistent gold and experience sources in the game, independent of loot luck on the Trading Post. Completing the full Treasurer quest chain unlocks higher reward tiers and increases merchant affinity, which can affect prices and open additional quest tiers in future seasons.
