A common misconception is that a farming potion is poured onto your crops, rather than into your mouth. While it might sound sensible - it's the crops that are growing, not you - it fundamentally misunderstands what the farming potion does.
The farming potion increases the experience you receive when you farm. It achieves this by making you sensitive to the wants and needs of your plants. You become intensely aware of them. You will know when even a single aphid lands on a leaf; when the last drop has been siphoned from the soil; when a potato wants to hear you sing. You are attuned to your crops, to the point that you might even find kinship with them. If you begin sleeping in your cabbage patch, you should consider lowering your consumption.
