A rotting and twisted dragon head, momentary twitches still flicker through it, the last remnants of necromancy at play.
The tragedy of Imaru is that she was once a sweet and gentle creature. Cruel dragonkin experiments had robbed her of the only thing she had ever wanted, to be a mother. So when the humans came to her land, she saw in them the children she never had. Xikotal, her mate, encouraged this nurturing behaviour, knowing the joy it would bring his beloved.
She could have been happy, and the people of Fellhollow could have been happy with her.
But Kuldra could not allow it. The queen’s hatred and rage became an infection that took hold of Imaru’s grief and, like some foul parasite, twisted it into something worse.
It is better that Imaru is no more. There is none who would argue otherwise. Yet, whilst we should not mourn the monster, perhaps we should take a moment to mourn the mother she could have been.
