Captain America Steve Rogers
Styl hry a archetyp Captain America
All-Rounder / Shield Zoner
Captain America plays the middle of the screen. He throws a shield to make the opponent move, meets them with a long-reaching normal when they do, and punishes any jump with an invincible rising attack. Every tool is honest — the depth is in the second shield, not in a gimmick.
Where most of the MARVEL Tōkon roster asks you to manage something — Ghost Rider's Vengeance, Star-Lord's loaded element, Wolverine's Berserker Rage — Captain America asks you to manage space. He has no unique gauge. He has a projectile, an anti-air, a forward-moving Skill with a low version and an overhead version, and a defensive Unique. That is the complete list of things you have to think about, and it is exactly the list every fighting game teaches you to think about first.
That makes him the honest recommendation for a first character in Tōkon, and it also makes him a genuinely good one — the tools are strong, not just simple. Soaring Justice becomes invincible to air attacks partway up, which means Captain America answers the roster's many air-dash and dive characters with one button instead of a read.
- A real invincible-to-air reversal in Soaring Justice, which several characters simply do not have
- Shield Strike controls neutral for free — no gauge cost, and the aerial version covers his own jump-ins
- Built-in high/low mix-up: Freedom Charge Heavy hits overhead, Shield Shock hits low
- Long normals and a Break on Freedom Charge Light, so he opens up guarded opponents without meter
- Shield Guard gives him a defensive Unique that also pays him back with a powered-up shield throw
- No unique gauge means no comeback mechanic — he wins on fundamentals or not at all
- Slower than the air-dash characters; he cannot chase Iron Man or Storm through the air
- The shield loop needs the shield out, so his best pressure has a setup cost
- Nothing in the kit is degenerate, so a matchup he is losing stays lost without a gimmick to fall back on
Herní plán Captain America
Captain America wants the opponent at roughly the range where Shield Strike is about to become annoying. From there every option he has is threatening at once, which is the whole reason to play him.
Neutral. Lead with grounded Shield Strike. Light is the recovery-safe version to throw from range, Medium angles the throw for opponents who like to hover, and Heavy sends it out fast enough to catch a forward dash. The moment they commit to air movement to get over it, Soaring Justice is your answer — it gains invincibility to air attacks partway up, so you do not need to be early, only correct.
Offense. Captain America's pressure is a genuine high/low, and both halves come off his Skill list rather than a command normal you have to buffer. Freedom Charge Heavy hits overhead; Shield Shock hits low against a standing opponent. Because these are Skills, you can chain into them from a Link Attack, which means the same L → M → H opener leads to either one. Mix which ender you use and the opponent has to guess.
The shield loop. This is the layer that separates a good Captain America from a new one. Trick Shield throws the shield on a curving path set by the direction you hold, leaving it live on screen. Ricochet Volley then strikes it back out — and it cancels into Skills when it connects. So a shield hanging in the air is a second attack you can trigger on your timing, in the middle of your own blockstring, from a range the opponent thinks is safe.
Defense. Shield Guard blocks standing attacks and automatically counters a blocked leader attack, and it powers up one shield throw as payment. Use it when you have read a specific attack, not as a general-purpose block — anything low or any throw goes straight through it. Otherwise Captain America defends the way everyone in Tōkon does: Guard Cancel Attack and Guard Cancel Dodge out of blockstun, Air Tech after a launch, and Assist Guard Cancel when the pressure is genuinely not ending.
Klíčové útoky Captain America
These are the moves that define how Captain America is played. Names, inputs and pad glyphs below come straight from the in-game command list.
Shield Strike
SchopnostiUkazatel dovedností 25 (jen Heavy)Throws the shield as a projectile. Medium angles the throw and Heavy sends it out fast.
The move the rest of the character is built around. A free, no-gauge projectile that makes the opponent choose an approach, and every approach has an answer.
- Light from max range is the safe default — throw it, walk forward behind it.
- Heavy comes out fast enough to stuff a forward dash on reaction.
- The air version covers your own jump-in, so you are never approaching naked.
Soaring Justice
SchopnostiUkazatel dovedností 25 (jen Heavy)Rising attack that becomes invincible to air attacks partway up, so it answers jump-ins.
A genuine anti-air with invincibility to air attacks partway up. In a game with this much air mobility, having a one-button answer is a real advantage.
- Use it the moment they leave the ground, not when they are on top of you.
- It is not invincible to grounded attacks — it is an anti-air, not a reversal for everything.
Freedom Charge
SchopnostiCharging lunge. Light triggers a Break, Heavy hits overhead for a mix-up.
Your approach, your overhead and your Break, all on one input. Light triggers a Break to crack a guarding opponent; Heavy hits overhead.
- Alternate the Heavy overhead with Shield Shock's low to force a real guess.
- Light's Break is how you deal with someone who just holds guard against everything.
Shield Shock
SchopnostiPunches the ground for a shockwave that hits low against a standing opponent.
The low half of the mix-up. Hits low against a standing opponent, and comes off the same Link Attack opener as the overhead.
Trick Shield
UnikátníThrows the shield on a curving path set by the direction held.
The setup move. Curves the shield along a path set by the direction you hold and leaves it live, which turns your next blockstring into a two-sided problem.
- Set it before you commit to pressure, not during — the throw itself is not the pressure.
Ricochet Volley
UnikátníStrike that knocks a thrown shield back out. Cancels into Skills when it connects.
The payoff. Knocks a thrown shield back out and cancels into Skills when it connects, which is what makes the loop a loop rather than a one-off.
Shield Guard
UnikátníBlocks standing attacks and counters a blocked leader attack, powering up one shield throw.
A defensive Unique that pays you for reading correctly — it counters a blocked leader attack and powers up one shield throw.
- Standing attacks only. Lows and throws beat it clean.
Living Legend
Super dovednostiUkazatel dovedností 50Lunges in and follows with a heavy strike, then powers up his shield throws for the round.
Your 50-gauge combo ender, and it powers up shield throws for the round afterwards — so the meter buys damage now and neutral later.
Sentinel of Liberty
Ultimátní dovednostiUkazatel dovedností 100Invincible strike into a long attack string, and later shield throws gain a power-up.
The Ultimate. Starts with an invincible strike, which makes it both a combo ender and a genuine panic button when you have the gauge.
Komba Captain America
First combo you should learn
The universal Tōkon opener with a Skill ender. Works from anywhere on screen and teaches you the chain timing.
Overhead confirm
Confirming off the overhead is where Captain America's damage actually comes from. Learn to see the hit before you commit to the ender.
Shield loop pressure
The signature Captain America sequence. The returning shield covers the gap that would normally let the opponent press a button.
Metered ender
50 Skill GaugeLiving Legend powers up his shield throws for the rest of the round, so this ender buys neutral control as well as damage.
Ultimate cash-out
100 Skill GaugeUse when the shared Vital Gauge is low enough that the round ends here. Otherwise Living Legend is usually the better spend.
Týmová synergie a asisty Captain America
Called in, Captain America's value is that his Skills cover ground he is not standing on. A shield thrown across the screen while your point character approaches does the same job for them that it does for him. He is also a comfortable anchor because Soaring Justice gives an incoming character a reversal to respect.
Iron ManIron Man wants to be in the air, and a grounded Captain America shield covers exactly the space he cannot. The two halves of Fighting Avengers cover opposite planes.
HulkHulk's armoured charges want the opponent stuck guarding. A shield on screen makes them do that.
StormStorm sets Tornado and Hailstone and wants time to do it. Captain America is the most straightforward character in the game at buying someone else time.
WolverineWolverine has to close distance to function. Cap makes them block on the way in.On a four-character MARVEL Tōkon team, Captain America is comfortable in any slot, which is unusual. As point he starts neutral honestly; as an assist he covers space; as an anchor his reversal makes an opponent think twice about running a tag-in mix-up on your last character. If you are still learning Tōkon Assemble and the tag system, putting him on point and a simpler assist behind him is the least stressful way in.

Časté dotazy: jak hrát za Captain America
Is Captain America good for beginners in MARVEL Tōkon?
Yes — Captain America is the best beginner character in MARVEL Tōkon. He has no unique gauge to manage, so every one of his tools does what it looks like it does. He has a fast projectile (Shield Strike), a genuine anti-air with invincibility to air attacks (Soaring Justice), an overhead (Freedom Charge Heavy) and a low (Shield Shock). Learning him teaches you the game rather than teaching you a gimmick.
What are Captain America's best combos in MARVEL Tōkon?
Start with the universal chain into a Skill: Light into Medium into Heavy into Shield Strike. Once that is automatic, learn to confirm from the Freedom Charge Heavy overhead, then the shield loop — Trick Shield to set the shield, a short chain, then Ricochet Volley, which cancels into Skills when it connects. With 50 Skill Gauge, end with Living Legend, which also powers up your shield throws for the rest of the round.
How do you anti-air in MARVEL Tōkon as Captain America?
Use Soaring Justice, his 623 Skill. It becomes invincible to air attacks partway up, so it beats jump-ins cleanly if you press it as the opponent leaves the ground rather than when they are already on top of you. It is not invincible to grounded attacks, so do not use it as a general wake-up reversal — a blocked Soaring Justice is a full punish.
What is Captain America's shield loop?
Trick Shield throws the shield along a curving path set by the direction you hold and leaves it live on screen. Ricochet Volley then strikes that shield back out, and it cancels into Skills when it connects. Together they let Captain America cover the gap in his own blockstring with a second attack, which is the main thing separating an experienced Captain America from a new one.
Who is the best team for Captain America in MARVEL Tōkon?
Captain America fits any slot on a four-character team, which is rare. He pairs particularly well with characters who need time or need the opponent pinned — Iron Man and Storm both want space covered while they set up, and Hulk and Wolverine both want the opponent stuck guarding while they close in. As an anchor, Soaring Justice gives your last character a reversal the opponent has to respect.
What are Captain America's weaknesses in MARVEL Tōkon?
He has no unique gauge and therefore no comeback mechanic, he is slower than the flight and air-dash characters, and his best pressure requires setting the shield first. He struggles against opponents who can fight from further out than his shield reaches — Doctor Doom's Nullify Shield absorbs projectiles outright, and Magneto and Iron Man can both simply operate outside his range.
