I leave this account behind as an attendant to the High Priestess of Illusion. The echoing roars of Balaur and the distant screams of Daeva and humans are our constant companions. Verteron Fortress will likely fall soon—just as the Verteron Barrier Tower did before it. Some of us Illusion Cavaliers have taken refuge here, concealed with illusion magic and shielded by a barrier. We came to this place to protect the remaining holy relics and records. Weapons have been readied to defend the sanctum. But the other Cavaliers who were fighting the Balaur never made it here. Those few who were not slain scattered far and wide. Sometimes, death may be considered a kindness. The high priestess seems to have forgotten why we came here. Lately, she's been chanting strange spells—and perhaps because of that, some of the Cavaliers who followed her have begun to succumb to a strange, creeping energy. To be trapped in this place, watching comrades fall to the spell's influence, while the screams continue to ring outside—it's hell. Oh what cruel irony that this sanctum, home to so many holy relics, feels so cursed. If you are reading this, it likely means I didn't survive either. I implore you, remember just one thing! The Illusion Cavaliers fought to the very end, resisting the Balaur with everything they had—for the sake of Verteron.
