The Nornir are forest-dwelling Daeva who live in harmony with the Elim of Moslan Forest and the Purifying Forest. Yet beneath their peaceful existence lies a painful secret: many of them were once Karas. The Karas are Daeva twisted by exposure to Drana, the Balaur's source of power, after suffering severe depletion of their Odyle. Feared as cursed beings, they were shunned by other Daeva and subjected to horrific persecution. Some were burned at the stake, while others were buried alive simply on suspicion of being Karas. Hidden deep within the forests, the Three Women of Fate, Urd, Skuld, and Verdandi, took pity on these outcasts and sheltered them from the cruelty of the world. Under their protection, the Karas found a new purpose and became known as the Nornir. Of the three sisters, Urd now serves as the leader of the Nornir. As the armies of Dragon Lord Fafnir swept across Altgard, entire legions fell one after another. Panic and madness spread among the Daeva. Many turned against their own kind, hunting down mutated Karas, or even those merely accused of being one. Amid this chaos, High Priest Hystan had his soul devoured by Fafnite. What remained was an empty husk driven only by rage, and in its fury, it set Moslan Forest ablaze. The Nornir fought against the High Priest's rampaging body. With the aid of Nemon and the Fang Legion, they succeeded in subduing it and bringing it into their safekeeping. But by then, it was already too late. Moslan Forest had been reduced to ashes, and the survivors were forced to scatter while enemies hunted them relentlessly across the land. To this day, the Nornir conceal their faces and bodies beneath heavy garments, hiding the scars left behind from their time as Karas, as well as the marks of petrification used to treat their affliction. Petrification is one of the sacred powers wielded by the Three Women of Fate. They use it both to suppress the Karas curse and to protect the Oracle from those who would seek to invade it.
