Tainted Candy

Tainted Candy is a Dark and Darker quest assigned by the Jack O Lantern merchant, part of the The Season of Sweetness quest line. These lovely tricolored candies are a special treat found only this season. But there’s a problem. The old corpses in the dungeons have made the candies taste strange. There’s not a trace of sweetness left! Please, adventurer, get rid of those awful things spoiling the world’s sweetness. There are 3 objectives to complete: Kill 3× any Undead Skeleton; Kill 3× Mummy; Kill 3× Zombie. All progress requires a successful extraction — items retrieved or kills made during a failed run do not count toward quest completion. Once every objective is fulfilled, return to Jack O Lantern in the lobby to turn in the quest and receive the reward. Completing Tainted Candy rewards 100 Gold, 25 XP, PumpkinMan Affinity +50, 9x Healing Potion, 9x Protection Potion, 9x Luck Potion. The quest is completed in Ice Cavern, Goblin Caves, Ruins or Ship Graveyard. Merchant quests in Dark and Darker are one of the most consistent gold and experience sources in the game, independent of loot luck on the Trading Post. Completing the full Jack O Lantern quest chain unlocks higher reward tiers and increases merchant affinity, which can affect prices and open additional quest tiers in future seasons. The The Season of Sweetness chain provides a structured progression path through the Jack O Lantern quest tree, and finishing each quest in order is the fastest route to the higher value objectives later in the line.
