Our strategy, built from the fight's numbers, followed by the game's own codex entry.
- Parry the blue flashes: 2 of Yan Qiansui, the Zither Maiden's 10 attacks flash blue before they land, and a timed parry stops them.
- Dodge the red flashes: 1 attacks flash red. They can't be parried, so dodge through them instead of blocking.
- Yan Qiansui, the Zither Maiden adds new attacks below 80% HP, so expect the moveset to change at 80%.
- Bring Fire: it deals 16% more damage to Yan Qiansui, the Zither Maiden.
- Yan Qiansui, the Zither Maiden's Sha-Chi bar is 2,400: perfect parries and Guard Break attacks drain it, and an empty bar opens the boss to a finisher.
Yan Qiansui is weak to three elements: Fire, Frost and Water each deal 16% more damage, with Burn and Soaked building 16% faster and Frost lasting 16% longer. Avoid Lightning, which is cut by 30%, and Chaos, which deals 50% less. Her Sha-Chi has no special modifiers, so normal Parry pressure applies.
She is lighter than most bosses here, with 6,000 base HP and 2,400 base Sha-Chi. Her exact level within Meigu Lake's 18 to 23 band is not confirmed; at level 23 she would have about 93,120 HP and 27,930 Sha-Chi before difficulty.
The codex describes a woman before a ruined songhouse whose zither's ringing notes spill her resentment over any living thing that strays near. She follows You Loong, the Frenzied Blackwater Crew Leader and precedes the Blizzard Blademaster. Defeating her grants 90,000 Remnant Dust, Fanatic's Fragment: Attachment and Illusory Pipa Strings.

Yan Qiansui, the Zither Maiden lore
The codex entry the game unlocks for Yan Qiansui, the Zither Maiden.
In-game codexA woman who wanders before a ruined songhouse, playing the zither in her arms day and night without rest. The instrument seems almost alive, its ringing notes giving voice to her pent-up resentment and indignation, spilling them over any living thing that strays here.
Yan’er was once a renowned zither player who captivated every audience. She thought she had found true love with a great hero and even bore his child, only to be met with an assassin’s blade... In the debauched life of that Mandate sect leader, there was never any place for the happiness a lowly musician could hope for.
After narrowly surviving the calamity, Yan’er was taken in by the High Elder and given the name Yan Qiansui. But what the High Elder truly wanted was the child in her womb. To him, her unborn child was merely a sacrifice to shorten the passage. When Yan Qiansui learned the truth behind her child’s death, she was alive in body but dead inside. Yet it seemed all she could do was flee from the truth.
Only the zither that had always remained by her side could offer her a little comfort, allowing her to lose herself in a fleeting dream of past splendor and seek a salvation that never existed.
