Progression
Full progression guide →The 8 boss-gated biomes in the order you clear them: what summons each boss, the power its trophy grants and the materials the kill unlocks.
- Tier 1Meadows
Open grass and the only ground in Valheim that is not actively trying to kill you. Everything you build first goes here, and the reason to leave is copper.
Eikthyr500 health- Summon with
Forsaken powerRunning stamina -60% · Jump stamina -60% - Tier 2Black Forest
Dark enough that you will not see what is following you. It holds the copper and tin that end the stone age, and Greydwarves arrive in threes.
The Elder2,500 health- Summon with
- Unlocks
Forsaken powerHealth regeneration +30% · +60% Chop, Pickaxe damage - Tier 3Swamp
Wet, poisonous and permanently dark, with iron locked inside crypts that need a key. The biome that teaches you to bring poison resistance rather than more armour.
Bonemass5,000 health- Summon with
Forsaken powerBlock stamina -100% · Blunt, Slash, Pierce: Slightly resistant - Tier 4Mountain
Cold enough to kill you on its own, before anything with teeth reaches you. Silver is under the snow and wolves hunt in packs across it.
Moder7,500 health- Summon with
- Unlocks
Forsaken powerFrost: Resistant · Carry weight +300 - Tier 5Plains
Deceptively open. Fulings travel in war parties, deathsquitos cross a field faster than you can turn, and the black metal is worth both.
Yagluth10,000 health- Summon with
Forsaken powerFarming +25 · +10% Chop, Fire, Blunt, Frost, Slash, Pierce, Poison, Spirit, Pickaxe, Lightning damage - Tier 6Mistlands
A fog you cannot see through, over terrain that drops away without warning. Bring a wisp light, and expect the Seekers to find you first.
The Queen12,500 health- Summon with
Forsaken powerEitr regeneration +100% · Sneak stamina -100% - Tier 7Ashlands
Lava, ash and a coastline that shoots back. Everything here is on fire or about to be, and the gear that survives it is made from what does.
Fader25,000 health- Summon with
Forsaken powerFire: Resistant · Stagger taken -50% - Tier 8Deep North
The last biome and the newest: Valheim 1.0 filled it in with Kall Fimbulbringer, a three-phase fight worth 47,000 health, and gave it a building set, armour and food of its own. The only altar that asks for no offering, and the only boss that grants no Forsaken power.

Guides
All guides →Longer reads for the questions a table cannot answer on its own: the boss order, what to build first, and what to bring.
Valheim Food Guide: Three Slots, 97 Dishes, One BuildFood is the entire stat line in Valheim. The real ceilings, why only 18 dishes carry eitr, and why the raw data lists food you can never eat.
Valheim Base Building Guide: Support, Materials and DecayThe two numbers behind every collapse, read from the game’s own files: what each material carries, how fast it loses it, and why stone can never span.
Valheim Deep North Survival Guide: Cold, Gold and KallThe last biome, added in Valheim 1.0. What lives there, the two-stage foundry that makes its gear, and the 47,000-health fight at the end of it.
Valheim Ashlands Survival Guide: The Landing and AfterThe Ashlands kill your ship before they kill you. How to land, what to build first, and how to fight Charred Warriors, Morgen and Asksvin on ground that is always burning.
Everything on this site is read directly from the game files: 9 biomes, every item, creature, recipe and build piece, in the game’s own translations. Valheim is gated into biome tiers behind 8 bosses, so the Progression page is usually the place to start.

Valheim FAQ
Is there a Valheim map?
Not a useful one. Every Valheim world is generated from its own seed, so no two worlds share a layout. What is fixed is which biome each resource and creature belongs to, which is what the Biomes and Resources pages cover.
Where does this Valheim data come from?
Straight from the game itself, including its own translations, so item and creature names appear in your language rather than machine-translated. It is re-read each patch.
How long is Valheim?
Sixty to a hundred hours for a first run that builds properly and does not rush. The 8 bosses are a small fraction of that — most of the clock goes on sailing, mining and hauling ore, which cannot be portalled and therefore sets the real pace.
Is Valheim finished?
Yes. Version 1.0 arrived in September 2026 and filled in the Deep North, which was the last empty biome. All 9 biomes now have content and the boss chain runs end to end.
Can you play Valheim solo?
Yes, and it is balanced for it — enemy health does not scale with player count, so a group makes every fight easier rather than longer. What solo play costs you is time: the hauling is the same either way.
What is the Valheim boss order?
In order: Eikthyr, The Elder, Bonemass, Moder, Yagluth, The Queen, Fader, and Kall Fimbulbringer. Each kill drops the item, or opens the door, that the next biome’s materials depend on, which is why the order is effectively fixed even though the game never states it.
What is the best weapon in Valheim?
Lightning Strike, at 363 dmg averaged across every creature at max quality. The ranking uses that average rather than peak damage, so a weapon that is huge against one faction and useless against another does not top it. The best armour is Breastplate of the Protector (50 armour) and the best food by per-minute value is Luminous Larva (6 per min).
What are Forsaken powers?
A buff you claim by hanging a boss trophy on the sacrificial stones at spawn. 7 bosses grant one (Eikthyr, The Elder, Bonemass, Moder, Yagluth, The Queen, and Fader), only one can be active at a time, and each lasts 5 min with a 20 min cooldown.
