How to beat Acolyte Guhe

Our strategy, built from the fight's numbers, followed by the game's own codex entry.

  • Dodge the red flashes: 2 attacks flash red. They can't be parried, so dodge through them instead of blocking.
  • The tightest tell is Poison Gatling Barrage: only 0.06s from the flash to the hit, so react to the flash, not the swing.
  • Acolyte Guhe adds new attacks below 90%, 55% HP, so expect the moveset to change at 90%.
  • Bring Fire: it deals 16% more damage to Acolyte Guhe.
  • Acolyte Guhe's Sha-Chi bar is 2,400: perfect parries and Guard Break attacks drain it, and an empty bar opens the boss to a finisher.

Fire is the weakness to exploit on Acolyte Guhe, dealing 16% more damage with Burn building 16% faster. Poison is useless here, as he is immune to both Poison damage and the Poison status. He has no special Sha-Chi interactions, so Parries hit his guard at full value.

Base stats are 9,000 HP and 2,400 Sha-Chi. Meigu Lake's band runs from level 18 to 23 and his exact level is not confirmed; at level 23 that would be about 139,680 HP and 27,930 Sha-Chi before difficulty.

The codex warns of toxic mist spread by his fly whisk, a poisonous double that uses the same techniques, and poison erupting from his sleeves at close range that steadily drains vitality. He comes between Heartpiercer, Elite Shadow Warden and Grief-Stricken Jin, rewarding 90,000 Remnant Dust and Guhe's Venom Mask.

Acolyte Guhe lore

The codex entry the game unlocks for Acolyte Guhe.

Guhe is one of the four Acolytes serving under the High Elder. Through a scarecrow, he conceals himself within the Discordance.

Clad in eerie purple robes, he wields deadly poison as a weapon. With a sweep of his fly whisk, toxic mist spreads in all directions, seeping into bone and corroding martial arts. He can also conjure a poisonous double to use the same techniques. At close range, poison erupts from his sleeves and eats away at his enemies. Those afflicted suffer excruciating pain as the poison gnaws at their organs and steadily drains their vitality, until they finally perish in agony.

By order of the High Elder, he dwells at the heart of the Meigu Lake islands, watching the lake day and night. Anyone who might hinder the Lady of the Veil’s descent is eliminated without exception. Whenever a ritual array shows signs of disturbance, whatever the cause or truth behind it, he personally goes to dismantle it and strip away the facade.

The flesh is but an illusion, and all life eventually decays. Yet when the merciful Lady of the Veil descends, poison will spread across the world and strip away every false appearance... Guhe longs for that day.
