How to beat Acolyte Hansui
Our strategy, built from the fight's numbers, followed by the game's own codex entry.
- Parry the blue flashes: 1 of Acolyte Hansui's 11 attacks flash blue before they land, and a timed parry stops them.
- Dodge the red flashes: 3 attacks flash red. They can't be parried, so dodge through them instead of blocking.
- The tightest tell is Ice Orb Shot: only 0.53s from the flash to the hit, so react to the flash, not the swing.
- Acolyte Hansui adds new attacks below 70% HP, so expect the moveset to change at 70%.
- Bring Fire: it deals 30% more damage to Acolyte Hansui.
- Shock builds up 30% faster on Acolyte Hansui.
- Acolyte Hansui's Sha-Chi bar is 2,000: perfect parries and Guard Break attacks drain it, and an empty bar opens the boss to a finisher.
Fire or Lightning will melt Acolyte Hansui. Both deal 30% more damage, and Burn and Shock build up 30% faster. He is immune to Frost and Water, including the Frost and Soaked statuses, and Poison is resisted by 30%.
He is fragile by boss standards: 4,000 base HP, roughly 10,300 at level 4 within Weeping Creek Valley's 1 to 4 band, and 2,000 base Sha-Chi with no resistances. Standard Combos and Parries break him at the normal rate, so aggressive pressure ends this quickly.
The codex describes an ice-wielding Acolyte whose whisk raises jagged glaciers and spreading rows of ice spikes, and who can freeze the surrounding land into a field of snow. His consciousness is bound to the crystal eye carried by The Puppet Scavenger, the boss before him. Defeating him grants 12,000 Remnant Dust.

Acolyte Hansui lore
The codex entry the game unlocks for Acolyte Hansui.
In-game codexHansui is one of the four Acolytes serving under the High Elder. Through a crystal eyeball, he conceals himself within the Discordance.
Clad in pale blue robes and wielding a whisk, Hansui turns ice into a weapon of slaughter. With a sweep of his whisk, jagged glaciers burst from the ground as rows of ice spikes spread outward. He can also summon biting winds and freeze the surrounding land into a field of snow.
By order of the High Elder, Hansui watches over Crimson Manor to ensure the crystal eyeball never changes hands. To make certain of this, he willingly separated a sliver of his consciousness and allowed the High Elder to seal it within the eye. Through this bond, he can conceal himself within the Discordance.
The Herald sensed something amiss but could not sever the connection, so the eye was embedded in the Scavenger. Hansui’s consciousness thus became bound to the creature, and should the Scavenger die, Hansui would suffer as well. Fortunately, the Scavenger was an experimental creation that survived even with weapons driven through its body. Hansui became deeply fascinated by this near-immortal resilience.
Life and death, flourishing and decay, pass in an instant. Yet when the Merciful Lady descends, eternal frost shall seal the world in ice, and all things beneath Heaven will know eternity... Hansui longs for that day.
