How to beat The Puppet Scavenger
Our strategy, built from the fight's numbers, followed by the game's own codex entry.
- Parry the blue flashes: 2 of The Puppet Scavenger's 18 attacks flash blue before they land, and a timed parry stops them.
- Dodge the red flashes: 2 attacks flash red. They can't be parried, so dodge through them instead of blocking.
- The tightest tell is Blade Flurry Grab: only 0.49s from the flash to the hit, so react to the flash, not the swing.
- Blade Cage Grab is a grab: dodge it, because blocking and parrying don't stop a grab.
- Bleed builds up 16% faster on The Puppet Scavenger.
- The Puppet Scavenger's Sha-Chi bar is 4,000: perfect parries and Guard Break attacks drain it, and an empty bar opens the boss to a finisher.
Bleed is the only status The Puppet Scavenger is weak to, building up 16% faster. Fire, Poison and Water each deal 60% less damage, with matching 60% slower Burn, Poison and Soaked build-up, and Blood Burst builds 30% slower. Lightning and Frost are unmodified, so physical damage plus Bleed is the reliable plan.
Do not expect a quick Guard Break. Its Sha-Chi is 4,000 base, about 7,140 at level 4, and it loses 50% less when hit and 30% less from Parries. Its base attack of 150 is also high for Weeping Creek Valley, and its calculated HP at level 4 is roughly 25,800.
The codex calls its movements clumsy and slow, built around savage scythe chops and rolling its massive body forward to crush prey. It carries one of the crystal eyes needed to activate Puppet No. 99 and pays 20,000 Remnant Dust.

The Puppet Scavenger lore
The codex entry the game unlocks for The Puppet Scavenger.
In-game codexA living puppet imprisoned beneath Crimson Manor. Knotted flesh and protruding blades twist together across its body. A greatsword runs through its spine, while a massive alloy scythe replaces its left arm. Strangely out of place amid the gore is a delicate crystal eye, one of two needed to activate Puppet No. 99.
At the sight of anything living, the Scavenger swings its scythe in savage chops and rolls its massive body forward to crush its prey. Its movements are clumsy and slow, without any real form, yet Sha-Chi pours from it.
An experimental creation of the Herald, it was pieced together from the remains of a burly strongman using Puppetry and Thread-Binding techniques. But the experiment spiraled out of control. Its body swelled and warped, while no number of masks could contain the Sha-Chi surging within. Even a greatsword through its body failed to kill it. The Herald eventually imprisoned it beneath Crimson Manor, using it to dispose of discarded puppets and troublesome members of the righteous path.
Perhaps because Wulin folk still carry the vitality of the living, the Scavenger has developed a particular hunger for them.
