How to beat Cavalrybane, Elite Shadow Warden

Our strategy, built from the fight's numbers, followed by the game's own codex entry.

  • Parry the blue flashes: 3 of Cavalrybane, Elite Shadow Warden's 4 attacks flash blue before they land, and a timed parry stops them.
  • Dodge the red flashes: 1 attacks flash red. They can't be parried, so dodge through them instead of blocking.
  • Bring Fire: it deals 16% more damage to Cavalrybane, Elite Shadow Warden.
  • Cavalrybane, Elite Shadow Warden's Sha-Chi bar is 2,400: perfect parries and Guard Break attacks drain it, and an empty bar opens the boss to a finisher.

Bring Fire to Cavalrybane: it deals 16% more damage and builds Burn 16% faster. Lightning is resisted by 30% with Shock building 30% slower, and other elements are neutral.

Parries drain 30% less of his Sha-Chi and hitting his guard drains 20% less, so expect a slower Guard Break than usual against his roughly 8,610 Sha-Chi at level 11. His calculated HP at that level is about 62,900 before difficulty, and his base attack of 120 is a notch above both Blaze forms.

The codex describes broad, powerful saber work with Armybreaker, flowing between thrusts, cleaves and sweeps that send rubble and dust roaring across the street. He guards the streets of Pangzhen, awards 17,400 Remnant Dust, and drops Armybreaker itself as a weapon. Soulclaimer, Elite Shadow Warden follows.

Cavalrybane, Elite Shadow Warden lore

The codex entry the game unlocks for Cavalrybane, Elite Shadow Warden.

An elite Shadow Warden who guards the streets of Pangzhen. Clad in black from head to toe, he is as still and impenetrable as a moonless night, the two edges of Armybreaker in his hands stained with blood. His movements are broad and powerful, each rise and fall betraying years of disciplined training. His saber work flows freely between advance and retreat. He thrusts, cleaves, and sweeps, the blade sending rubble and dust roaring through the air, its force bearing down on the entire street.

He was once an elite of the Mandate, fierce and fearless in battle. That instinct to obey orders, ingrained in him to the very bone, only grew deeper under the "Mindseal." When he faces an enemy, he weighs neither gain nor loss and harbors not a trace of personal thought. He exists only to carry out the Shadow Sovereign’s commands, fearless of death and unstoppable in his advance. Every battle is a feast of combat meant for him alone.

Armybreaker and he have long since become one. His body is the blade. The command is his path.
