How to beat Leng Tu, Herald of the Veil
Our strategy, built from the fight's numbers, followed by the game's own codex entry.
- Dodge the red flashes: 1 attacks flash red. They can't be parried, so dodge through them instead of blocking.
- The tightest tell is Spinning Sleeve Combo: only 0.5s from the flash to the hit, so react to the flash, not the swing.
- Leng Tu, Herald of the Veil's Sha-Chi bar is 1,200: perfect parries and Guard Break attacks drain it, and an empty bar opens the boss to a finisher.
Leng Tu has no weaknesses and only one immunity: Chaos deals no damage to him. Every other element and status works at normal strength, and he has no special Sha-Chi interactions, so Parries and Standard Combos break his guard at the full rate.
His base numbers are low for this point in the game: 4,500 HP, 1,200 Sha-Chi and an attack value of 70, roughly half the base HP of the bosses around him. His exact level on Mount Soulrend is not confirmed, so scaled values are not given.
The codex frames him as the Herald who spreads the Lady of the Veil's teachings and conducts Puppet experiments on Wulin practitioners and ordinary people. He follows The Crusher, Earthshattering Form and comes right before Meng Hua, The Merciful Lady of the Blossom Veil. No drops or Remnant Dust value are recorded for him.

Leng Tu, Herald of the Veil lore
The codex entry the game unlocks for Leng Tu, Herald of the Veil.
In-game codexHe took the name “Leng Tu,” dressed as “Leng Tu,” and in the end became “Leng Tu” in every way, even more cruel and deranged than the original.
At first, he only had to imitate Leng Tu’s words and manner. But every lie demanded another to cover it, and when the disguise could no longer hold, he had no choice but to silence everyone who knew the real Leng Tu. Lies and blood piled up. Cruelty became a habit, and the mask became his true face.
He used that cruelty to please the Lady of the Veil. The Lady he worships is cold-hearted and takes pleasure in watching the suffering of others. She has no use for anything that serves no purpose. If he cannot satisfy her, he has no value and could be cast aside at any moment.
He will never allow himself to become useless. The Viper of Seven Venoms once tasted that suffering all too well. In that lightless prison of illusion, all his talent, kindness, and loyalty were crushed into nothing. He could only cling to life through endless torment, entirely at the mercy of others.
He has become “Leng Tu” through and through. He spreads the Lady of the Veil’s false teachings and conducts Puppet experiments on countless Wulin practitioners and ordinary people. He savors their desperate struggles inside the Puppets, wanting them to suffer as the Viper of Seven Venoms once did. He even switched Still Poison and Silence Poison, using them to poison Lei Dang of the Order and reenact, in the name of “Leng Tu,” the very scheme that once destroyed the Viper of Seven Venoms.
For all his sins, so long as they serve the Lady of the Veil, he gives her everything he has.
Perhaps the Viper of Seven Venoms was destined to suffer that terrible fate. If not, who else could this believer crawling at the Lady of the Veil’s feet have become?
