How to beat The Lion Dance Grandmaster's Final Dance

Our strategy, built from the fight's numbers, followed by the game's own codex entry.

  • Parry the blue flashes: 3 of The Lion Dance Grandmaster's Final Dance's 17 attacks flash blue before they land, and a timed parry stops them.
  • Dodge the red flashes: 1 attacks flash red. They can't be parried, so dodge through them instead of blocking.
  • The tightest tell is Pillar Side-Leap Slam: only 0.46s from the flash to the hit, so react to the flash, not the swing.
  • Bring Lightning: it deals 30% more damage to The Lion Dance Grandmaster's Final Dance.
  • Shock builds up 30% faster on The Lion Dance Grandmaster's Final Dance.
  • The Lion Dance Grandmaster's Final Dance's Sha-Chi bar is 4,000: perfect parries and Guard Break attacks drain it, and an empty bar opens the boss to a finisher.

Bring Lightning again. The Final Dance shares Flame's profile: Lightning deals 30% more damage and Shock builds up 30% faster, while Fire, Poison and Water are 60% weaker, Frost is 30% weaker, and Burn, Poison, Bleed, Blood Burst and Soaked all build up 60% slower.

This encounter has 10,000 base HP and a heavy 4,000 base Sha-Chi, about 98,700 HP and 18,536 Sha-Chi at level 15 before difficulty. Your hits drain 50% less Sha-Chi and Parries 30% less, so Sha-Chi Combos and Lightning damage are the efficient route to a Guard Break.

Per the codex, Flame calls his lion-dancer disciples, all lost to Perfect Transcension, into the fight, and Soul takes to the high stakes as a lion dancer. It follows Flame, the Mask-Bound Lion Dance Grandmaster and precedes Corpse-Eating Xue, paying 51,000 Remnant Dust and the Dormant Flaming Mane.

The Lion Dance Grandmaster's Final Dance lore

The codex entry the game unlocks for The Lion Dance Grandmaster's Final Dance.

He still dances amid the flames, as he did in years past to the cheers of the crowd, driving out evil and bringing blessings to the people.

At the height of the battle, he stands atop the Plum Blossom Stakes and lets out a long cry, calling his disciples to dance with him. All the lion dancers here have fallen victim to Perfect Transcension, their minds lost. They turn the art of lion dancing into deadly techniques and charge at Soul, only to have Soul defeat them one by one and claim the lion head.

Behind the mask, he watches as Soul leaps onto the high stakes and battles in the form of a lion dancer, and sees in him the hope of the art's continuation. The one to pluck the green he had awaited has finally arrived, to perform the final dance alongside him.

When the dance reaches its end, Soul dons Flame's lion head. As the lion's bright eyes meet Flame's, his own will breaks free of the mask's control in an instant. Flame knows that his life is nearly spent, and before him stands a new lion dancer. The spiritual energy of Heaven and Earth gathers in those eyes.

The Grandmaster can finally depart in peace. The art of lion dancing, and the will to drive out evil, are entrusted to Soul along with the lion head.
