How to beat Wu Lengshuang, the Soft Sword

Our strategy, built from the fight's numbers, followed by the game's own codex entry.

  • Parry the blue flashes: 2 of Wu Lengshuang, the Soft Sword's 18 attacks flash blue before they land, and a timed parry stops them.
  • Dodge the red flashes: 2 attacks flash red. They can't be parried, so dodge through them instead of blocking.
  • The tightest tell is Retreating Guard Lash: only 0.36s from the flash to the hit, so react to the flash, not the swing.
  • Wu Lengshuang, the Soft Sword's Sha-Chi bar is 2,400: perfect parries and Guard Break attacks drain it, and an empty bar opens the boss to a finisher.

Wu Lengshuang has no elemental or status modifiers, so any element works normally. The number that matters is her Parry resistance: Parries drain 90% less of her Sha-Chi, which makes Parry pressure close to useless for breaking her guard. Break her with Standard Combos and Sha-Chi Combos instead, switching weapons to refill your own Sha-Chi.

At level 20 her 9,000 base HP and 2,400 base Sha-Chi calculate to about 115,200 HP and 23,404 Sha-Chi before difficulty.

The codex describes the Baishan Sect's senior disciple fighting with a supple soft sword, her dance-trained flexibility turned into frenzied swordplay under Sha-Chi. She falls between Chief Disciple, Sword of Despair and Yubi, No. 21 Swordfighter Puppet at the Mandate Encampment. The reward is 72,000 Remnant Dust, the Soft Snake Sword weapon and a Blackstone Shard.

Wu Lengshuang, the Soft Sword lore

The codex entry the game unlocks for Wu Lengshuang, the Soft Sword.

The senior disciple of the Baishan Sect and Bi Taotao’s first disciple. When Soul encountered Wu Lengshuang in the Confinement, her mask was already cracked as she struggled to suppress the Sha-Chi surging within her. Even with a soft sword in hand, supple yet unyielding, she retained her usual grace and poise.

Like Bi Taotao, Wu Lengshuang believed both Perfect Transcension and Transcension to be unorthodox arts. After her master disappeared, she set out to find her and uncover the truth.

She never imagined her fellow disciples had been turned into Maskwalkers and Puppets until she saw it herself. After uncovering the truth, she too was transformed. Even as her Sha-Chi spiraled out of control, she remained concerned for her master, who had been taken to the end of the mountain path.

Born the daughter of a wealthy merchant, she took up martial arts after seeing the chaos of the world. The flexibility she developed through dance became frenzied swordplay under Sha-Chi’s influence. Once the senior disciple of Baishan, she could no longer protect her sect or face her elders. Transformed in body and tormented at heart, only loyalty and sorrow remained.
