How to beat Wu Xuan, the Fallen General
Our strategy, built from the fight's numbers, followed by the game's own codex entry.
- Parry the blue flashes: 4 of Wu Xuan, the Fallen General's 19 attacks flash blue before they land, and a timed parry stops them.
- Dodge the red flashes: 2 attacks flash red. They can't be parried, so dodge through them instead of blocking.
- The tightest tell is Vertical Mace Windmill: only 0.37s from the flash to the hit, so react to the flash, not the swing.
- Mace Grab Throw is a grab: dodge it, because blocking and parrying don't stop a grab.
- Wu Xuan, the Fallen General adds new attacks below 90%, 70%, 60%, 55% HP, so expect the moveset to change at 90%.
- Bring Chaos: it deals 50% more damage to Wu Xuan, the Fallen General.
- Poison builds up 50% faster on Wu Xuan, the Fallen General.
- Wu Xuan, the Fallen General's Sha-Chi bar is 4,000: perfect parries and Guard Break attacks drain it, and an empty bar opens the boss to a finisher.
Wu Xuan is wide open to status effects: Burn, Poison and Shock all build up 50% faster, Frost lasts 50% longer on him, and Chaos deals 50% more damage. Water is resisted by 60%, with Soaked building 60% slower, and he is immune to Bleed and Blood Burst.
Status damage is the right plan because his Sha-Chi is very tough. He has 4,000 base Sha-Chi, about 16,400 at level 13, and loses 50% less when hit and 30% less when you Parry, so Guard Break will be slow. Calculated HP at level 13 is roughly 76,300 before difficulty.
The codex describes a looming armored general with a spiked club, whose armor shares its origins with Zhuo Bi's, and who turns Sha-Chi into Chaos Fire when cornered. He awards 24,000 Remnant Dust and precedes Gu Wanyue, the Wailing Wraith in Pangzhen.

Wu Xuan, the Fallen General lore
The codex entry the game unlocks for Wu Xuan, the Fallen General.
In-game codexA general who once led his troops in bloody battles against the Maskwalkers, later stationed in the backstreets of Pangzhen. His heavy armor shares its origins with that of Zhuo Bi, gatekeeper of the Village of Lu. Looming like an iron tower, he swings his spiked club with crushing force and the bloodlust of a rabid wolf. When cornered, he can turn Sha-Chi into Chaos Fire to sear his enemies.
Countless Transcended have died at his hands, their devices grafted onto his own body. He still lives in the years when Maskwalkers roamed in hordes. Defying every objection, he ordered his entire army to undergo Transcension, only to see his comrades all descend into madness. After putting them down himself, he embedded their devices in his flesh, hoping to bring them home that way.
But his corruption has gone too deep. As device upon device accumulates, his humanity falls away. His consciousness has begun to pass briefly between the Waking Realm and the Discordance, even drawing close to the latter's depths... He understands now that this is their true home. He must devour more devices, draw ever nearer, and deliver the countless souls of the dead to the Blight!
