Ranger Build Calculator

The Dark and Darker Ranger build calculator on MetaBot lets you experiment with every piece of gear available to the Ranger, covering all armor slots, both weapon slots, rings, necklaces, and utility items, and see your full stat totals update in real time as you make each change. Armor rating, magic resistance, weapon damage, move speed, action speed, and all attribute bonuses are calculated from the actual item database, so every number in the stat panel reflects what you would genuinely have in a dungeon run at that exact gear combination. The item picker automatically filters to only show gear the Ranger can legally equip, so you are always choosing from valid options without needing to memorize class restrictions yourself. Skills, spells, and perks are all selectable from the Ranger's complete pool, letting you factor in ability based stat bonuses and passive effects alongside your gear choices. The training dummy section calculates expected damage output against different enemy armor values so you can compare weapon choices numerically before spending gold on the market. When your build is finalized, save it and generate a shareable link. Anyone who opens it loads the exact same Ranger configuration in the calculator. The community tab shows the highest voted Ranger builds submitted by other MetaBot users, ranked by upvotes, giving you starting points across every budget and playstyle. Load any community build directly into the calculator to inspect each item choice, tweak individual slots, and see exactly how changes affect your stats before committing the build to a real dungeon run.

Ranger Build Guide FAQ — Dark and Darker

What is the Ranger playstyle in Dark and Darker?

Ranger is a long-range physical damage dealer built around bow and crossbow combat. With high Agility and Resourcefulness, Ranger excels at kiting enemies and picking targets from distance. Skills like Multishot, Quickshot, and True Shot give Ranger exceptional burst potential, though it is fragile at close range.

What are the best skills for Ranger in Dark and Darker?

Ranger has access to 10 active skills. Backstep (12s) instantly retreats you 4 meters in 0.2 seconds and can even be used mid-air, making it one of the best escape tools in the game. Explosive Shot (22s) fires a shot that deals magical damage and applies a burn for 3 seconds. Field Ration (24s) recovers 40 physical healing across 2 rechargeable uses, giving Ranger rare self-sustain. Forceful Shot (18s) knocks targets back and keeps bow weapon buffs active for 10 seconds. Multishot (22s) fires 5 arrows simultaneously at full damage each, making it one of the highest burst skills available. Overdraw (22s) stacks up to 3 charges of +25% physical power as you hold your draw, rewarding patience with massive single-shot damage. Penetrating Shot (18s) adds 50% headshot penetration and 25% armor penetration with piercing projectiles for 8 seconds. Quick Fire (18s) boosts bow action speed by 50% for 8 seconds. Quickshot (22s) fires a rapid burst of 2 to 4 arrows depending on your bow type. True Shot (18s) removes projectile gravity on your next shot and adds an 8% physical power bonus for guaranteed long-range hits. Where Ranger really shines is in skill combinations. Pairing Multishot with Explosive Shot lets you unload a full volley followed immediately by a burning burst for enormous burst damage. Overdraw into Multishot layers stacked physical power onto every arrow in the volley. Quickshot into Explosive Shot creates a rapid-fire opener into a burning follow-up that is difficult for enemies to escape.

What are Ranger's base stats in Dark and Darker?

Ranger's starting stats are: Strength 12, Vigor 10, Agility 20, Dexterity 18, Will 10, Knowledge 12, Resourcefulness 23. The class excels in Resourcefulness and Agility (23 and 20 base respectively), with lower values in Vigor and Will.

How do I build Ranger in Dark and Darker?

Agility, Dexterity, and Physical Damage are Ranger's core stats. Agility and Dexterity increase bow attack speed and action speed, while Physical Damage directly boosts how hard your arrows hit. For bow choice, a Survival Bow paired with light armor is the faster and more mobile option, letting you kite enemies and reposition quickly. A Longbow deals more damage per shot but has a slower draw and attack speed, rewarding careful positioning and setup over raw speed. Escaping bad encounters is almost always better than trading hits, so build around staying mobile.

Is Ranger good for solo play in Dark and Darker?

Ranger is viable solo but demands that you control the range of every fight. Field Ration gives you a rechargeable heal to recover between encounters, and skills like Multishot and True Shot let you burst enemies down before they can close the gap. The biggest risk solo is getting cornered or rushed by multiple enemies at once. Use traps, Backstep, and map awareness to keep distance and you can clear most dungeons without a group.
