Finer Gem

Finer Gem is a Dark and Darker quest assigned by the Goldsmith merchant, part of the The Reason Behind the Skill quest line. The quality of a gem has to match the quality of the gear it’s set into. Only then can socketing truly bring out its full power. It’s a demanding craft, so I’m always working to refine my skills. Bring me some gems today. Just make sure they’re of better quality than last time. There are 4 objectives to complete: Bring 1× Blue Sapphire; Bring 1× Diamond; Bring 1× Emerald; Bring 1× Ruby. All progress requires a successful extraction — items retrieved or kills made during a failed run do not count toward quest completion. Once every objective is fulfilled, return to Goldsmith in the lobby to turn in the quest and receive the reward. This quest requires completing How to Enhance Equipment before it becomes available from Goldsmith. Completing Finer Gem rewards 75 Gold, Random Uncommon Armor, 75 XP. The quest is completed in Ice Cavern, Goblin Caves, Ruins or Ship Graveyard. Merchant quests in Dark and Darker are one of the most consistent gold and experience sources in the game, independent of loot luck on the Trading Post. Completing the full Goldsmith quest chain unlocks higher reward tiers and increases merchant affinity, which can affect prices and open additional quest tiers in future seasons.
