How to beat The Crusher and the Saw
Our strategy, built from the fight's numbers, followed by the game's own codex entry.
- Parry the blue flashes: 2 of The Crusher and the Saw's 20 attacks flash blue before they land, and a timed parry stops them.
- Dodge the red flashes: 2 attacks flash red. They can't be parried, so dodge through them instead of blocking.
- The tightest tell is Smash Combo Grab: only 0.41s from the flash to the hit, so react to the flash, not the swing.
- Smash Combo Grab is a grab: dodge it, because blocking and parrying don't stop a grab.
- The Crusher and the Saw adds new attacks below 50% HP, so expect the moveset to change at 50%.
- The Crusher and the Saw's Sha-Chi bar is 2,400: perfect parries and Guard Break attacks drain it, and an empty bar opens the boss to a finisher.
The Crusher and the Saw resist nearly everything, so plan for a long Sha-Chi grind. Fire, Poison, Frost and Water are all cut by 60% while Lightning carries no penalty, Frost wears off 60% sooner, and Burn, Poison, Blood Burst and Soaked build up 60% slower, Bleed 30% slower.
Your hits drain 80% less Sha-Chi and Parries 80% less, the steepest Sha-Chi resistance among these late bosses, so a Guard Break takes sustained effort; lean on Sha-Chi Combos and swap weapons to refill your own bar. Base attack is 150.
Base stats are 10,000 HP and 2,400 Sha-Chi; its level on Mount Soulrend is not confirmed, so no scaled values are given. The codex describes the Crusher's chained hammer and the Saw riding his shoulders, cutting him with a bone saw to drive him into a frenzy. It follows Lei Dang, One-Armed Tiger, and The Crusher, Earthshattering Form comes next.

The Crusher and the Saw lore
The codex entry the game unlocks for The Crusher and the Saw.
In-game codexCold iron chains bind the Crusher’s feet, while a massive hammer is chained to his hand. One arm and leg are thick with muscle, while the other pair are withered and frail. Born with this uneven body and stubborn by nature, he trained only his stronger side, becoming more fearsome with each passing year.
Most who see him are too intimidated to notice the faceless creature perched on his shoulders.
That creature is the Saw. Riding on the Crusher’s neck, he repeatedly cuts into his flesh with a bone saw, using the pain to drive him into a frenzy and send him charging at his enemies without restraint.
All the while, the Saw’s shrill, manic laughter rings out, chilling anyone who hears it before the fight even begins. The Crusher, however, only grows more ferocious with every laugh.
