Into the Abyss is a Dark and Darker quest assigned by the Leathersmith merchant, part of the Learning The Truth quest line. There’s word of an Ice Abyss hidden deep with the depths of The Frost Mountain... Ice Hounds and Frost Sentinels are said to be a common sight down there... take a look for me, will ya? There are 2 objectives to complete: Kill 2× Frost Sentinel; Kill 2× Ice Hound. All progress requires a successful extraction — items retrieved or kills made during a failed run do not count toward quest completion. Once every objective is fulfilled, return to Leathersmith in the lobby to turn in the quest and receive the reward. This quest requires completing Frosty Encounters before it becomes available from Leathersmith. Completing Into the Abyss rewards 100 Gold, Random Rare Armor, 200 XP. The quest is completed in Ice Cavern. Merchant quests in Dark and Darker are one of the most consistent gold and experience sources in the game, independent of loot luck on the Trading Post.
