For the Squire
For the Squire is a Dark and Darker quest assigned by the Squire merchant, part of the To Become a True Adventurer quest line. Well... I did make it as far as the cave entrance, but... there were a lot more goblins than I expected. With that many, I don't think I could handle even one on my own. And if they surround me, I’d be in real trouble. Adventurer, would you be willing to take care of some of the goblins for me? I think I’d find the courage to try again if I knew it was a little safer. There are 3 objectives to complete: Kill 8× Goblin Archer; Kill 8× Goblin Axeman; Kill 8× Goblin Warrior. All progress requires a successful extraction — items retrieved or kills made during a failed run do not count toward quest completion. Once every objective is fulfilled, return to Squire in the lobby to turn in the quest and receive the reward. This quest requires completing The Squire's Hesitation before it becomes available from Squire. Completing For the Squire rewards 125 Gold, 2x Arcane Essence, 125 XP. The quest is completed in Goblin Cave. Merchant quests in Dark and Darker are one of the most consistent gold and experience sources in the game, independent of loot luck on the Trading Post. Completing the full Squire quest chain unlocks higher reward tiers and increases merchant affinity, which can affect prices and open additional quest tiers in future seasons. The To Become a True Adventurer chain provides a structured progression path through the Squire quest tree, and finishing each quest in order is the fastest route to the higher value objectives later in the line. Use the MetaBot Dark and Darker quest tracker to check all open objectives across every active merchant before extracting, so you can turn in multiple quests from a single run and get the most value out of each session.
