Forbidden Craft
Forbidden Craft is a Dark and Darker quest assigned by the Weaponsmith merchant, part of the Remember Your Heritage quest line. My great-grandfather was a master craftsman. Long ago he learned the forging techniques of the dwarves, but that knowledge led him down the wrong path. Using forbidden methods, he forged enchanted daggers and paid a heavy price. I intend to set right the mistakes of the past and forge a weapon that surpasses them through honest skill. For now, bring me a few fine weapons. Examining them will be the first step. The objective is to bring 3× weapon (uncommon). All progress requires a successful extraction — items retrieved or kills made during a failed run do not count toward quest completion. Once every objective is fulfilled, return to Weaponsmith in the lobby to turn in the quest and receive the reward. This quest requires completing Farm it or Buy it before it becomes available from Weaponsmith. Completing Forbidden Craft rewards 100 Gold, Random Uncommon Weapon, 200 XP. The quest is completed in Ice Cavern, Goblin Caves, Ruins or Ship Graveyard. Merchant quests in Dark and Darker are one of the most consistent gold and experience sources in the game, independent of loot luck on the Trading Post. Completing the full Weaponsmith quest chain unlocks higher reward tiers and increases merchant affinity, which can affect prices and open additional quest tiers in future seasons. The Remember Your Heritage chain provides a structured progression path through the Weaponsmith quest tree, and finishing each quest in order is the fastest route to the higher value objectives later in the line. Use the MetaBot Dark and Darker quest tracker to check all open objectives across every active merchant before extracting, so you can turn in multiple quests from a single run and get the most value out of each session.

“These weapons will work. With them, I can begin the real work, but there’s more to this story. My great-grandfather spoke of an ancient sword hidden in Frost Mountain—crafted by the Dwarves who taught him... Well need to investigate this soon, but let’s rest for now.”
