Every one of them sits in the Desert, so that is the only biome worth searching for a wild Fenglope. They are packed into a single stretch in the north-east of the map, around X 163k, Y 455k — land there and you are on top of the population.
Wild Fenglope spawn between level 45 and level 80, so the ones you meet late in a run hit noticeably harder than the first you catch. It also has one fixed Alpha arena, marked with a diamond on the map — that Alpha respawns, so it is a repeatable source.
