Glossary entry: Dog
Some dogs roaming the valley are just strays, hungry or rabid – sometimes both. Others have been specially trained by the knyaz's huntsmen. They are kept hungry on purpose, to sharpen their hunting instinct and bloodthirst. Soldiers often take them on patrols, especially outside Svartrau, where the dogs's speed, agility and keen senses give them an advantage over common bandits or manumits.
