MetaBot Desktop is a free Deadlock overlay and match tracker for Windows. Is the Deadlock overlay free?
Yes — the Overlay Hub, match recording, post-game analysis, AI Coach, and desktop tools (Build Theorycraft, Comp Lab, Rank Benchmarks, Objective Companion) are all free.
Are overlays allowed in Deadlock?
The app is built on Overwolf, which renders on top of the game the same way Steam's own overlay does — it never injects into Deadlock's process or modifies game files. It simply displays MetaBot's build and stat data over your match.
How does Deadlock match tracking work without a public API?
Valve doesn't expose a public match API for Deadlock, so MetaBot Desktop records your matches as you play. That recording powers your match history, the post-game analysis window, and your MetaBot.GG Deadlock profile — it's the only way to get this data automatically.
How does the Overlay Hub work in game?
Press the search hotkey during a match and the hub opens over the game: current builds for your hero, live hero stats, and matchup lookups. Close it and you're straight back in the action — no alt-tab, no second monitor.
Will the overlay affect FPS in Deadlock?
The hub only renders when you open it, and the recording layer is lightweight and hardware-accelerated, so the in-game impact is minimal even during large team fights.
