A warning for a very particularly kind of ranger: magic wood has a tendency to twinkle. Now, if you're the creed to hide in the shadows, then you might want to reconsider the magic shortbow. It is phenomenally accurate and a delight to use, but it doesn't half draw attention.
Of course, you can embrace the problem. I remembers stories about The Glittering Assassin in Varrock. The last thing you would see before dying is something fabulous in your peripheral vision.
