Every one of them sits on Feybreak Island, so that is the only biome worth searching for a wild Felbat. They are packed into a single stretch in the south-west of the map, around X -801k, Y -385k — land there and you are on top of the population.
Wild Felbat spawn between level 20 and level 66, so the ones you meet late in a run hit noticeably harder than the first you catch. Felbat is nocturnal, so it is awake and easiest to track down at night. Beyond open-world spawns, Felbat also turns up in dungeons.
