Master Yi Power Spikes (Patch 26.19)

Support

When Master Yi Support gets stronger, in the order it happens in a typical ranked game: ability unlocks from the most common skill order, item spikes at the median minute players finish them, and the game length Master Yi wins most.

  1. Lv 3
All three basic abilities at level 3
Master Yi's full combo is online — the first point where trading all-in is realistic.
  2. Lv 6
Ultimate rank 1 at level 6
The biggest early spike: look for a kill or a roam as soon as Master Yi hits it.
  3. Lv 11
Ultimate rank 2 at level 11
Lower ultimate cooldown means more fights Master Yi can start or win.
  4. Lv 16
Ultimate rank 3 at level 16
Lower ultimate cooldown means more fights Master Yi can start or win.

Item timings are medians: half of players finish later. Fall behind in farm and every item spike moves back with it.

Master Yi Support Laning Plan

Master Yi is a lane bully: trade early and often, push the advantage, and turn the gold lead into the first item spike. On average Master Yi Support is 542 gold ahead of the lane opponent at 15 minutes and ahead in 66% of games. Master Yi averages 0.34 solo kills by 15 minutes.

Master Yi Mid and Late Game

What Master Yi does better or worse than other champions after laning, from this patch's ranked games — percentiles where 100 is the highest of every champion.

Play to these strengths

  • Master Yi wins 11.0 points more in short games than long ones: group, take objectives and end before the enemy scales.

Mistakes to avoid

  • Master Yi falls behind in CS (25/100): last-hit the waves you can, items still matter.

Playing Master Yi

  • If you're in a lane against ranged players, leveling up Meditate can allow you to stay in the lane longer and gain levels faster than they will.
  • Wuju Style is very strong early for last hitting minions.
  • Try using Alpha Strike on a minion in front of an enemy champion so you are placed at a safe distance at the end of the spell.

Playing Against Master Yi

  • Meditate is an effective method of healing damage over time, but Master Yi is susceptible to coordinated team ganks early in the game.
  • If Master Yi tries to farm with Alpha Strike, hit him a few times so he has to use mana with Meditate to heal.
  • Although Master Yi cannot be slowed while using Highlander, other disables can stop him in his tracks.
