Somniwing is the Grass/Wind butterfly at #30 in the Aniilog, and it is one of the few Aniimo you cannot catch. The game files give it no wild spawn, no egg and no shop listing: the only route is the Institute's Elite Training track. This guide covers every point milestone, the quest that hands Somniwing over, the Elite Training map points, and what Somniwing actually does once it joins your team.

Why you can't catch Somniwing

Our datamine of the retail build (1.0.3634150) has no spawn point, egg, drop, boss or shop entry for Somniwing, and it carries no catch rate at all. It does not evolve either: the Aniilog files it in the Flutternym family, but Flutternym evolves into Gracewing, not Somniwing. If you have been sweeping meadows for one, stop. Every Somniwing comes from Elite Training.

Elite Training point rewards

Elite Training is a course track run by the Institute. Each course is a short quest (the game's own source text reads "Complete the Elite Training program quests"), and finishing one adds Elite Training points on top of the course's own rewards. Your running total unlocks seven milestones:

PointsMilestone reward
10Custom Egg Box - DPS ×1
30None listed in the game files
60None listed in the game files
90Advanced Held Item Pack ×1
120None listed in the game files
150None listed in the game files

The courses pay out on their own, too. 24 items in our item database list Elite Training as a source, including Safaris, Glimmer, Growth Fruit, Vein Essence, Starcryst Essence, Held Item Cores and the Aniipod Pro, Aniipod Mega and Aniipod Ultra, so the track is worth working through long before Somniwing is in reach.

Core Courses and elective Paths

Points come from two kinds of course. The Core Courses follow the main story in seven chapters, so they open up as you push the campaign. The four elective Paths reward specific activities you can do at your own pace:

PathWhat it asks of you
Path of TwiningCatch and hatch Aniimo, train and star them up, equip Carried Items and Runes
Path of DiscoveryExplore, challenge Alphas and Omegas, solve world puzzles, collect Lumin Amber for the Branch
Path of VictoryUse elemental counters, push the Holo-Battle Sim and Interlink, run Operation: Egg Heist
Path of SplendorTend your Homeland, send Aniimo travelling, play with friends, dress up Aniimo, take photos

How your points build up

  1. Chapters 1–2
    Early story

"First Steps with Aniimo: Forest of Falling Stars" and "Charge Into Battle!" open the Core Courses. The 10-point Custom Egg Box - DPS is the first milestone you will claim.

  2. Chapters 3–5
    Mid story

"Vein’s Power · Song of the Echobacks", "Potential Awakened · Pulse of the Berylline Vale" and "Proof of Trials · Dance of Flowers and Thorns". Mix in Path of Twining courses as your roster grows and you should pass the 90-point Advanced Held Item Pack.

  3. Chapters 6–7
    Late story

"To Distant Horizons · Echo of the Mysterious Keep" and "Windwild Finale · Falling Star of Tideblossom Coast" close out the Core Courses, ending on the Tideblossom Coast.

  4. Post-story
    Top up to 180

Whatever is left comes from the elective Paths. Clear the Path of Discovery, Path of Victory and Path of Splendor courses you skipped until the counter reads 180.

Step by step: the route to 180 points

  1. 1
Claim courses as you finish them

Open the Elite Training menu regularly and claim finished courses. The 10-point Custom Egg Box - DPS is the first milestone, and course rewards like Growth Fruit speed up everything else.

  2. 2
    Keep the main story moving

Core Courses only open as the campaign advances, so stalling the story stalls your points. Our leveling guide has the fastest region order.

  3. 3
Clear Path of Twining while you build your team

Catching, hatching, starring up and equipping held items are things you do anyway. Do them deliberately and the Path of Twining courses tick over for free.

  4. 4
Fold Path of Discovery into exploration

Alphas, Omegas, world puzzles and Lumin Amber all count. Use the interactive map to route them and the boss progression guide for fight order.

  5. 5
Pick up Path of Victory and Path of Splendor

Path of Victory covers the Holo-Battle Sim, Interlink and Operation: Egg Heist; Path of Splendor covers Homeland, outfits and photos. Use them to close whatever gap the story leaves.

  6. 6
    Finish Polaris’ Commendation at 180

Accept The Promised Moment of the Butterfly Shadows. It has two steps: "Call Dr. Lewis", then "Return and speak with Dr. Lewis". Somniwing is yours when the quest completes.

Elite Training map points

Our Elite Training map plots 15 points across five regions. The game labels every one of them "Tracking Point", and several descriptions send you somewhere specific ("Go here to make a report."), so they work as waypoints for course objectives rather than point pickups. Nothing in the files suggests that standing on a marker adds points by itself: finishing the course objective does.

Is Somniwing good? Stats, skills and matchups

Somniwing is a Grass/Wind REGEN Aniimo: its job is keeping your team's EP flowing. Its Regen stat of 115 is tied for second-highest among the 95 base forms in our data, behind only Besauce (118), and its trait Energy Full raises max EP. It can also fly, glide and sprint, which makes it a comfortable explorer.

Somniwing skills

Defensively, Grass/Wind takes 1.6× damage from Fire, Lightning and Light, and only 0.625× from Water, Grass and Earth. All of Somniwing's damage is Grass, which hits Water and Earth for 1.6× but is resisted by Fire, Grass and Light. Our recommendations list it as a Grass support pick next to Melloblum; see the tier list and team comps for where it fits.

Veilfloat: the other quest-reward Aniimo

Somniwing is not the only Aniimo a quest hands out. The Tideblossom Coast journey quest Is That a... Lighthouse? gives a level 15 Veilfloat, a Lightning support that evolves into Luminelle at level 52 with a Roar Stone. You need the Day and Night Switch from the main quest and the clue quest "Clue: A Lighthouse?" first. Unlike Somniwing, Veilfloat also spawns in the wild on Tideblossom Coast (level 53–60 in our spawn data), so the quest is a shortcut rather than the only route.
