Aniimo Team Building Guide: Best Team Comps and How to Cover Weaknesses
How to build an Aniimo team of four: the five roles, the full type chart, how to spot and fix weak spots, the game's recommended teams, the best team for each element and example comps that work.
A team in Aniimo holds up to four Aniimo, and every one of them has one of five roles and one or two of nine elements. Building a good team comes down to two jobs: cover the roles so the party can deal damage, crack shields and stay alive, and mix the elements so no single attacker hits most of your party for extra damage. This guide covers both, using the role and type-chart data from the game files and the same rules our team builder runs on.
The five roles and what each one does
Every Aniimo form has exactly one role, and the role shapes its base stats. Our role rankings score each role on different inputs, and the leader of each role on the current tier list is shown on the right. The tier list is calculated from the game files, not play-tested.
| Role | What it does | Ranked on | #1 now |
|---|---|---|---|
| DPS | Deals the damage | ATK 40%, skill damage 30%, ultimate 30% | Pawney |
| Breaker | Cracks enemy shields with the highest BREAK stat | BREAK 45%, BREAK damage 35%, ATK 20% | Magmarex |
| Healer | Keeps the team alive | team effects 35%, HP 25%, DEF 20%, REGEN 20% | Gracewing |
| Support | Buffs allies and holds the line with balanced defences | team effects 35%, REGEN 25%, HP 20%, DEF 20% | Luminelle |
| Regen | Out-sustains long fights with the highest REGEN | REGEN 40%, team effects 30%, HP 15%, DEF 15% | Erlath |
The roster is lopsided. Counting each creature's default form in the game files, there are 35 DPS, 28 Breakers, 19 Supports, 8 Regen and only 5 Healers, so the Healer slot is the hardest to fill well. All five Healers are Water or Wind: Skippy, Pranky, Glacy, Flutternym and Gracewing.
Aniimo type chart
Aniimo has nine elements and only three damage multipliers: 1.6× when you hit a weakness, 1× neutral and 0.625× when the defender resists. There are no immunities. Every element resists itself except Dark, and Light and Dark hit each other for 1.6×. The chart is read from the retail game files; each element page lists the full matchups.
| Element | Hits for 1.6× | Resisted by (0.625×) | Weak to | Resists |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Fire | Grass, Ice | Fire, Water, Earth, Light | Water, Earth | Fire, Grass, Ice |
| Water | Fire, Earth | Water, Grass, Ice, Light | Grass, Lightning, Ice | Fire, Water, Earth, Dark |
| Grass | Water, Earth | Fire, Grass, Light | Fire, Wind, Dark | Water, Grass, Earth |
| Lightning | Water, Wind | Lightning, Ice, Earth | Ice, Dark | Lightning, Wind, Light |
| Ice | Water, Lightning | Fire, Ice, Earth | Fire, Earth | Water, Lightning, Ice |
| Earth | Fire, Ice | Water, Grass, Earth, Dark | Water, Grass | Fire, Lightning, Ice, Earth |
| Wind | Grass, Dark | Lightning, Wind | Lightning, Light | Wind, Dark |
| Light | Wind, Dark | Lightning, Light | Dark | Fire, Water, Grass, Light |
| Dark | Grass, Lightning, Light | Water, Wind | Wind, Light | Earth |
Dual-element Aniimo multiply both cells. Magmarex is Fire/Earth, so Water hits it for 1.6 × 1.6 = 2.56×, while Fire and Ice only deal 0.625 × 0.625 ≈ 0.39×. Grass ends up neutral: 0.625 × 1.6 = 1×. A second element can cancel a weakness or double it, so always check the combined number.
How to read party coverage: holes and walls
For every attacking element, the team builder counts how many of your Aniimo it hits super-effectively and how many resist it. A hole (weak spot) is an element more of your party is weak to than resists. A wall is an element at least one member resists and none is weak to. One weak member is fine if a teammate resists the same element; three weak members and nothing that resists is how a single enemy sweeps your party.
How to build an Aniimo team, step by step
- 1Pick your anchor DPS
Start with the damage dealer you'll use most; its element decides what you hit hard. The S-tier DPS on our tier list are Pawney, Scorchhowl, Thornblade, Ignitis (Forest Form) and Waleetle.
- 2Add a Breaker
A Breaker Aniimo is what rates Break as high. Magmarex is the #1 Breaker on our tier list; for the game's own pick in your element, see the recommended teams below.
- 3Add sustain
Take one Healer or Regen. Gracewing is the #1 Healer and easy to get (wild in Sea of Flowers, Lv 19–28); Erlath is the #1 Regen (wild in Tideblossom Coast, Lv 53–60).
- 4Check the holes
Put those three into the team builder. The live check marks every element that hits more of them super-effectively than resists it.
- 5Fill the last slot to plug the worst hole
Pick a fourth Aniimo that resists your worst hole, ideally one that also fills a missing role (Support is the usual gap) or adds a new super-effective element. The builder's fix suggestions score candidates on exactly these things.
- 6Swap for the fight
Before a boss, check its element in the boss guide and bring attackers that hit it for 1.6× and resist it back.
Game-recommended teams
The game files list recommended Aniimo per element and role for eight elements; there is no Light list. The teams page turns each list into one party with one pick per role. Some elements have fewer than four picks, so those parties are short.
| Element | Team | Shared weakness |
|---|---|---|
| Fire | Scorchhowl, Magmarex, Flamerion | Water, Earth |
| Water | Sherro, Panpanta, Piopiota, Erlath | Grass, Lightning, Ice |
| Grass | Irisal, Tuckin, Somniwing, Leafy | Fire, Lightning, Wind, Dark |
| Lightning | Fulmintis, Blazen, Luminelle, Besauce | Ice, Dark |
| Ice | Glynsera, Geoclaw | Fire, Earth |
| Earth | Waleetle, Shrubclaw, Bailite | Water, Grass |
| Wind | Cornet, Helgon, Tromber, Gracewing | Lightning, Light |
| Dark | Stellarys, Rookey, Dreaple, Hexxin | Wind, Light |
Mono-element teams are easy to understand but rarely balanced, because sharing an element means sharing its weaknesses. In the recommended Fire team every member is weak to Water, and nobody resists Water or Earth.
Best team for each element
If you want to stay in one element, the teams page also picks the strongest party per element straight off the meta tier list: the element's top DPS, its top Breaker, its best sustain pick, then the next strongest. The best Fire team is one of only two rated High for damage (it runs two DPS; the Dark team is the other), but Water hits all four members for 1.6× or more.
| Element | Team | Elements hit 1.6× | Shared weakness |
|---|---|---|---|
| Fire | Scorchhowl, Magmarex (Basic Form), Flamerion, Infergon | 5/9 | Water, Earth |
| Water | Sherro, Panpanta, Erlath, Leafy | 3/9 | Grass, Lightning, Ice |
| Grass | Thornblade, Pomawk (Snowfield Form), Somniwing, Leafy | 6/9 | Fire, Wind, Dark |
| Lightning | Fulmintis, Blazen, Luminelle, Besauce | 2/9 | Ice, Dark |
| Ice | Glynsera, Pomawk (Snowfield Form), Glacy, Geoclaw | 4/9 | Fire, Earth |
| Earth | Waleetle, Magmarex (Basic Form), Gracewing (Mountain Woods Form), Minespine | 8/9 | Water, Grass |
| Wind | Cornet (Beach Form), Helgon, Gracewing (Mountain Woods Form), Somniwing | 6/9 | Lightning, Light |
| Dark | Pawney, Rookey, Hexxin, Ignitis (Forest Form) | 5/9 | Fire, Wind, Light, Dark |
Example team comps that work
These four parties come from the live teams page. The weak spots column uses the live builder's hole rule (more members weak than resisting), which we worked out from the type chart above.
| Team | Members | Why it works | Weak spots |
|---|---|---|---|
| Best overall | Irisalis, Magmarex, Gracewing, Luminelle | DPS, Breaker, Healer and Support; 7/9 elements hit 1.6×; no weakness shared by two members | Dark (2 weak, 1 resists) |
| Easy to obtain | Thornblade, Susuta, Gracewing, Eklue | All wild at Lv 20 or lower; still covers DPS, Breaker, Healer and Support | Lightning (3 weak, 0 resist), Light, Ice |
| Best Earth | Waleetle, Magmarex (Basic Form), Gracewing (Mountain Woods Form), Minespine | 8/9 elements hit 1.6×, the widest of the per-element teams, plus a Healer | Water (all 4 weak), Grass (3 weak), Light |
| Best Fire | Scorchhowl, Magmarex (Basic Form), Flamerion, Infergon | Two DPS (Damage High) plus a Breaker and a Regen; has a Pound skill for Tunneling foes | Water (all 4 weak), Earth (3 weak) |
- Every attacker hits the same targets for 1.6×
- Simple to plan around one boss element
- Shares every weakness: Water hits all four members of the best Fire team for 1.6× or more
- Teammates cover each other's weak spots
- More 1.6× targets: the Best overall party hits 7 of 9 elements
- Fewer members get the 1.6× bonus against any single enemy
VerdictRun a mono-element team when one element hard-counters the content in front of you, such as a boss you've already scouted. For open-world play and anything you can't scout first, a mixed team with no holes is the safer default.

Guide FAQ
What is the best team in Aniimo?
By MetaBot's coverage rules, a strong all-round party is Irisalis, Magmarex, Gracewing and Luminelle: DPS, Breaker, Healer and Support, 7 of 9 elements hit for 1.6× and no weakness shared by two members. Your best team still depends on which Aniimo you own, so check your own party in the [team builder](/aniimo/teams).
What is the best healer in Aniimo?
Gracewing is the #1 Healer (S tier) on our tier list: top 1% for team effects and top 6% for HP among ranked Aniimo, recommended by the game itself, and easy to get (wild in Sea of Flowers, Lv 19–28). Glacy is #2 (A tier) and wild in Nimbus Fields at Lv 5–15, and Pranky is #3. See all of them on the [Healer rankings](/aniimo/roles/heal).
What is the best Fire team in Aniimo?
On the meta tier list the strongest Fire party is Scorchhowl, Magmarex (Basic Form), Flamerion and Infergon: two DPS, a Breaker and a Regen. Its weak spots are Water, which hits all four for 1.6× or more, and Earth. A Grass or Water member resists both, if you can give up a slot.
How many Aniimo can be in a team?
Up to four. With four slots and five roles you always leave one role out, which is why the flex slot should go to whatever your party is missing most.
What does a Breaker do in Aniimo?
Breakers crack enemy shields with the highest BREAK stat. Our Breaker ranking weighs BREAK 45%, the BREAK damage of their skills 35% and ATK 20%; Magmarex is #1. Keep one in any party you take into boss fights. See the [Breaker rankings](/aniimo/roles/break).
