AION 2 Manastone Guide: Stats, Odds and Best Rolls
AION 2 Manastone guide from the global client: slots per grade, every stat pool and roll chance, Abyssal vs normal stones, Soulstones and where to farm.
The AION 2 Manastone guide most players need is short: put random stats on your gear, reroll the slots you hate, keep the ones you love. The details are where people waste Kinah. Community posts call them "Mana Stones", mix up Manastones with Soulstones, and list stats such as Combat Speed that the stones cannot roll at all. Everything below comes from the global client's engraving table, so the odds are the real ones.
We cover the six stones and their six Soulstone twins, how many slots each grade of gear gets, the full stat pool with the chance of every roll, the Kinah cost to engrave, Abyssal versus normal stones, and where each size drops or gets crafted. If you are still choosing which gear to keep, read our gear progression guide first, because engraving is the last thing you do to a piece.

What are Manastones in AION 2?
Every Manastone tooltip in the client says the same thing: it "can be engraved on Manastone slots in all weapons and armor to imbue them with stats. The type and value of the stats are determined by chance." So a Manastone is not a fixed +Attack gem like in older Aion. It is a roll. The stone decides which pool you roll from and how high the values can go, and the game then picks one stat and one value tier for each slot.
Accessories use a separate set of stones. The Lesser Soulstone and its bigger siblings read "can be engraved on Soulstone slots in all accessories", and the enhancement window shows them on their own Soulstone tab. Under the hood, each Soulstone shares its exact pool with the matching Manastone, so everything in the odds tables below applies to both. You just need the right stone for the right slot: necklaces, earrings, rings and bracelets take Soulstones, while weapons, guards and armor take Manastones.
How many Manastone slots does each grade have?
Slot count is fixed by grade, not by item level or slot. Weapons, guards, armor pieces, necklaces, earrings, rings and bracelets all follow the same ladder. Amulets, belts and the rune have no slots at all. The Kinah fee per engrave also scales with the grade of the gear, not the stone.
| Gear grade | Slots | Stone type by slot | Kinah per engrave |
|---|---|---|---|
| Common | 1 | Manastone on weapons and armor, Soulstone on accessories | 500 |
| Rare | 2 | Same | 1,000 |
| Epic | 3 | Same | 1,500 |
| Unique | 4 | Same | 2,000 |
| Amulet, belt, rune | 0 | Cannot be engraved | n/a |
The jump from 3 slots to 4 is a big part of why a Unique piece beats an Epic one even at similar item level. Browse slot counts on any piece in the weapons, armor and accessories lists. Theostones are a separate, single weapon slot covered in our Theostone guide.
Manastone tiers: Lesser, Intermediate and Superior
There are 12 stones in total: Lesser, Intermediate and Superior sizes of the regular Manastone, the Abyssal Manastone, the regular Soulstone and the Abyssal Soulstone. Each also exists in Bound versions that cannot be traded, so the item list shows 36 entries. Bigger stones roll from a better value table. Here is how the three regular sizes compare for the same stat.
| Stone | Roll tiers and chance | Attack | Defense | Critical Hit | HP |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Lesser Manastone | Common 70%, Rare 30% | +1 / +3 | +10 / +30 | +5 / +7 | +30 / +60 |
| Intermediate Manastone | Common 50%, Rare 35%, Epic 15% | +2 / +4 / +8 | +20 / +40 / +75 | +6 / +9 / +13 | +45 / +80 / +130 |
| Superior Manastone | Rare 50%, Epic 35%, Unique 15% | +3 / +5 / +10 | +30 / +50 / +100 | +7 / +10 / +15 | +50 / +100 / +160 |
Read it like this: a Superior Manastone first picks a stat, then picks a tier. Half the time you get the Rare value, 35% of the time the Epic value, and 15% of the time the Unique value. A Lesser stone can never reach the third tier; the client lists that tier at 0%. That is why the Auto Engrave window greys out some goal tiers with the message "Cannot select this grade with current Manastone."
The jump is steep. A top Superior Attack roll is +10, more than three times the best Lesser roll of +3. That gap is why most players treat Lesser and Intermediate stones as filler for gear they will replace soon and save Superior stones for Unique pieces.
Manastone stats: the full pool and every chance
This is the part no other guide prints. Each stone has a stat list with a weight, and the weights add up to 100%. The regular Lesser and Intermediate stones roll only nine basic stats. The Superior stone adds five rare Damage Boost stats. Values for the percentage stats are shown as the game displays them.
| Stat | Lesser / Intermediate | Superior | Abyssal Lesser / Intermediate | Superior Abyssal |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Attack | 10% | 10% | 6% | 6% |
| Defense | 10% | 10% | 6% | 6% |
| Accuracy Bonus | 10% | 10% | 6% | 6% |
| Evasion Bonus | 10% | 10% | 6% | 6% |
| Critical Hit | 10% | 10% | 6% | 6% |
| Critical Hit Resist | 10% | 10% | 6% | 6% |
| Block | 10% | 10% | 10% | 10% |
| HP | 15% | 13.75% | 9.5% | 9.5% |
| MP | 15% | 13.75% | 9.5% | 9.5% |
| Damage Boost, Weapon Damage Boost, Critical Damage Boost, Back Attack Damage Boost, Front Attack Damage Boost | Not in pool | 0.5% each | Not in pool | 0.5% each |
| PvP Attack, PvP Defense, PvP Accuracy, PvP Evasion, PvP Critical Hit, PvP Critical Hit Resist, PvP Block | Not in pool | Not in pool | 5% each | 4.5% each |
| PvP Damage Boost | Not in pool | Not in pool | Not in pool | 1% |
The five Damage Boost stats on a Superior stone roll +0.1%, +0.3% or +1.0% at the three tiers. They are lottery tickets: 2.5% combined per roll, and a 1.0% roll of one specific Boost is a 0.075% chance (0.5% times 15%). Plan your gear around the 10% stats and treat a Boost hit as a bonus.
Stats Manastones cannot roll
Several guides list Combat Speed, cooldown reduction or main stats as Manastone options. None of them appear in any stone pool in the global client. If you want those, they come from gear base stats, Soul Binding, Daevanion boards or Arcana instead, which our class builds guide breaks down by class.
Abyssal Manastone vs normal: which is better?
The Abyssal family is Rare grade instead of Common, which makes it look like an upgrade. It is not, at least not for PvE. Same values, worse odds for the stats PvE players want. The Abyssal stones move about a third of their weight into PvP stats, so each of the six core stats drops from 10% to 6% per roll.
- 10% per roll for Attack, Critical Hit, Accuracy and Defense
- Superior adds five Damage Boost stats at 0.5% each
- Lesser drops in the field; bigger sizes are crafted
- Best for PvE, dungeons and raids
- 6% per roll for each core stat; Block stays at 10%
- 32.5% to 35% of every roll lands on a PvP stat
- Superior Abyssal Manastone is the only stone with PvP Damage Boost (+0.2% / +0.6% / +2.0%)
- Lesser Abyssal Manastone is sold for Abyss Points
VerdictFor PvE, regular Superior Manastones win on odds with identical values. Abyssal stones only pay off on a dedicated PvP set, where PvP Attack and PvP Defense rolls matter.
The PvP values grow by size. PvP Attack rolls +2, +6 or +10 on a Lesser Abyssal stone, +4, +8 or +16 on an Intermediate and +6, +10 or +20 on a Superior. PvP Defense runs from +20 up to +200. If you spend real time in Chaotic Lower Reshanta and the other Abyss layers, our Abyss PvP guide explains where those stats count.
How to socket Manastones in AION 2
Socketing happens in the Enhancement window on the Manastone tab (accessories use the Soulstone tab next to it). You do not place stones one by one like a gem. You engrave the item, and the stones roll its slots.
- 1Pick the gear and the stone
Select the item, then register a Manastone. The window will not let you continue until a stone is in place, and it shows the "Probability to Acquire" table for that stone before you commit.
- 2Engrave
Pay the Kinah fee (500 to 2,000 by gear grade) and the stones. The guide text reads "After Engraving, all slots will gain effects", so a fresh item fills every slot at once.
- 3Lock what you like
On an engraved item, the warning reads "Only the checked slots will have their effects changed." Uncheck the slots you want to keep and reroll the rest.
- 4Use Auto Engrave for big batches
Set a goal per slot by stat type, minimum tier (Basic or higher, Superior or higher, or Ultimate) and count. The game keeps engraving until the goal is reached or you run out of stones or Kinah.
The good news is that upgrades keep your work. The enhancement window states that "Enhance Level, Manastone, Theostone, Soul Binding information will be transferred upon Upgrade." So engraving a piece you intend to upgrade through that menu is safe. Swapping to a completely different drop is not: the new item starts with empty slots.
Where to get Manastones
Each size has its own sources. Unbound stones can be traded; the Bound versions cannot, but they engrave exactly the same.
- Lesser Manastone: drops from named level 45 and higher monsters in Verteron and Altgard, such as Kusan the Mad Gladiator and Immortal Gartua, and from Abyss monsters across Chaotic Lower Reshanta. The client lists 123 monster drop entries for it.
- Bound Lesser stones: six quests, the Hard stages of Deus Research Base and Shattered Arkanis, the Abyssal Forge: Ludra raid, achievements and the battle pass.
- Intermediate (Bound): the Hard stages of Deus Research Base and Shattered Arkanis, plus achievements.
- Superior (Bound): achievements and the battle pass only.
- Lesser Abyssal Manastone (Bound): the Abyss Trade Shop sells it for 1,000 Abyss Points, limited to 50 per character per week. The Lesser Abyssal Soulstone costs 2,000 with the same limit.
- Chests: the Growth Manastone Chest gives a Lesser (50%), Intermediate (40%) or Superior (10%) Manastone. The Ascension Binding Chest, which drops in the Nightmare Altar group (the Ascension Trial), gives a Lesser Manastone or Soulstone (45% each) or an Intermediate one (5% each).
Crafting Intermediate and Superior Manastones
The unbound Intermediate and Superior stones come from Alchemy. This is the main route to Superior stones you can stack in volume. Ingredients use Spiritstone Powder and inks.
| Product | Mastery | Ingredients | Great success |
|---|---|---|---|
| Intermediate Manastone | 20 | 5 Lesser Manastone, 3 Spiritstone Powder, 2 Professional Ink | 20% chance, makes a Superior Manastone |
| Intermediate Soulstone | 25 | 5 Lesser Soulstone, 3 Spiritstone Powder, 2 Professional Ink | 20% chance, makes a Superior Soulstone |
| Superior Manastone | 85 | 30 Intermediate Manastone, 10 Spiritstone Powder, 2 Exceptional Ink | None |
| Superior Soulstone | 90 | 30 Intermediate Soulstone, 10 Spiritstone Powder, 2 Exceptional Ink | None |
| Intermediate Abyssal Manastone | 85 | 5 Lesser Abyssal Manastone, 5 Spiritstone Powder, 3 Professional Ink | 20% chance, makes a Superior Abyssal Manastone |
| Intermediate Abyssal Soulstone | 90 | 5 Lesser Abyssal Soulstone, 5 Spiritstone Powder, 3 Professional Ink | 20% chance, makes a Superior Abyssal Soulstone |
Best Manastones for each role
This is analysis, not a server statistic. It follows the stat descriptions in the client and the class roles the game itself describes. The client caps Critical Hit Rate at 50% and Evasion at 30%, so chase those only until your other sources get close to the cap.
- Damage dealers (Gladiator, Ranger, Sorcerer, Spiritmaster): Attack on weapons and armor, Critical Hit second, Accuracy if you are missing bosses. Keep any Damage Boost or Critical Damage Boost hit you get.
- Assassin: the class description says it strikes from behind, and the Back Attack Damage Boost stat "ignores target's Block when attacking from behind". A Back Attack roll on a Superior stone is rare, so lock it the moment it appears. Otherwise build like any damage dealer: see the Assassin page.
- Tanks (Templar, and a Gladiator off-tanking): Block first, since Block "increases Parry Chance and Shield Block Chance", then Defense and HP. Block keeps a 10% weight even on Abyssal stones.
- Healers and support (Cleric, Chanter): HP and Defense keep you alive in raids; MP only if you actually run dry. Chanters who deal damage can follow the damage dealer list.
- PvP sets: Superior Abyssal stones on the pieces you use in the Abyss, aiming for PvP Attack on offense and PvP Defense on armor.
Manastone checklist
- Use Manastones on weapons, guards and armor, and Soulstones on necklaces, earrings, rings and bracelets.
- Engrave Lesser or Intermediate stones on leveling gear; save Superior stones for Unique pieces you will keep.
- Uncheck slots you want to keep before every reroll.
- Use regular stones for PvE and Abyssal stones only on a PvP set.
- Spend Abyss Points on Lesser Abyssal stones only if you are building PvP gear.
- Craft Intermediate stones in bulk for the 20% great-success chance at a Superior.
- Upgrade through the enhancement menu to keep your engraving; a new drop starts empty.
Manastones are only one layer. Before you spend Superior stones, make sure the item itself is worth it: our gear enhancement guide covers enhancement odds and costs, and the item database shows the slot count on every piece.

Guide FAQ
How many Manastone slots does gear have in AION 2?
Common gear has 1 slot, Rare gear 2, Epic gear 3 and Unique gear 4. This applies to weapons, guards, armor and the four accessory types. Amulets, belts and the rune have no slots.
What is the difference between Manastones and Soulstones?
Manastones are engraved on weapons and armor, while Soulstones are engraved on accessories. Each Soulstone uses exactly the same stat pool and odds as the matching Manastone, so only the slot type differs.
Are Abyssal Manastones better than normal ones?
Only for PvP. Abyssal stones roll the same PvE values but at 6 percent per core stat instead of 10 percent, because about a third of each roll goes to PvP stats. For dungeons and raids, regular Superior Manastones are the better pick.
Can you remove or replace Manastones in AION 2?
You replace them by engraving again. Checked slots get a new random stat and unchecked slots keep their current one. The old stone is consumed, and there is no way to get it back.
Where do you get Superior Manastones?
Unbound Superior Manastones are crafted with Alchemy, either directly from 30 Intermediate Manastones or as the 20 percent great-success result of crafting an Intermediate Manastone. Bound ones come from achievements, the battle pass and the Growth Manastone Chest.
Can Manastones roll Combat Speed in AION 2?
No. The stone pools in the global client contain Attack, Defense, Accuracy, Evasion, Critical Hit, Critical Hit Resist, Block, HP, MP, five Damage Boost stats and PvP stats. Combat Speed and cooldown stats are not in any pool.
