AION 2 Theostone Guide: Best Theostones and How to Get Them
AION 2 Theostone guide: all 51 weapon procs with exact chances, combine odds, the best Theostone for DPS, tanks and healers, and every way to get them.
This AION 2 Theostone guide covers the weapon procs that sit on top of your gear: what all 51 of them do, which one to engrave for your role, how combining works and where to get them. Veterans of the original game and players coming from the Korean version will know them as Godstones. The global client calls them Theostones, and that is the name we use from here on.
Every number below is read from the global client (2.0.3.0): the Theostone table, the item tooltips, the combine and chest probability tables and the shop tables.
What are Theostones in AION 2?
A Theostone is an engraving for your weapon. Each one adds a single passive effect that has a chance to trigger when you attack: a burst of elemental damage, a damage-over-time effect, a debuff or crowd control. Using the Theostone item adds it to your collection, and the tooltip says "the obtained Theostone can be found in the Enhancement menu". You then engrave it from the Theostone tab there.
- Only weapons take them. All 51 entries in the client's Theostone table are weapon Theostones. Epic and Unique weapons have one Theostone slot, and Common and Rare weapons have none. Browse every stone on the Theostone list.
- Identical stones do not stack. Every tooltip ends with "Only one Theostone's effect applies when identical Theostones are engraved."
- Each proc has an activation cooldown. Control stones can trigger at most once every 5 seconds, and damage stones once per second (with one Rare exception, below).
- Engravings survive upgrades. The client keeps enhancement level, Manastones, Theostones and Soul Binding when you upgrade gear, and also when you change class.
AION 2 Theostone grades: Rare, Epic and Unique
Each of the 17 effects exists at three grades. Higher grades keep the same proc chance and raise the payoff: longer crowd control, or more damage per proc. For the elemental damage stones, Epic deals exactly twice the Rare value and Unique three times. Poison and Bleed scale less, to 1.5x and 2x.
| Grade | Stones | Trade | Elemental damage vs Rare | Control duration vs Rare | Example |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Rare | 17 | Tradeable version on the Market, plus Bound copies | 1x | Base | Theostone: Kaisinel's Vestige |
| Epic | 17 | Not tradeable | 2x | +1s | Theostone: Traufnir's Courage |
| Unique | 17 | Not tradeable | 3x | +2s | Theostone: Tiamat's Rage |
The tradeable Rare stones are the only Theostones you can buy from other players. Every Epic and Unique Theostone item is flagged non-exchangeable, and so are all the Bound copies. The Market even has a dedicated "Theostone Properties" filter that lets you search by effect, up to 5 at once. Our Kinah farming guide covers how the Market works.

How Theostone procs work: the damage math
Here is the part most Theostone lists miss. Multiply each damage stone's proc chance by its damage and the result is identical within a grade. At Unique, 1% x 15,000, 2% x 7,500, 5% x 3,000 and 10% x 1,500 all come to 150 damage per attack on average. The four AoE stones all come to 75 per target hit, so 300 if you hit four enemies. The game balanced them on purpose, so "which elemental stone is best" has no single answer.
| Theostone type | Rare | Epic | Unique |
|---|---|---|---|
| Any single-target elemental stone | 50 | 100 | 150 |
| Any AoE elemental stone, per target hit | 25 | 50 | 75 |
| AoE stone hitting 4 targets | 100 | 200 | 300 |
| Poison: one full proc (10 ticks) | 3,000 | 4,500 | 6,000 |
| Bleed: one full proc (5 ticks) | 2,000 | 3,000 | 4,000 |
What actually separates them is the 1-second activation cooldown and variance:
- Fast attackers should favor low-chance stones. A 1% or 2% stone almost never procs twice within a second, so its cooldown costs nothing. A 10% or 20% stone on a character landing several hits per second will often roll a success during the cooldown and lose it.
- Slow attackers get the same average either way. Low-chance stones are swingier: Tiamat's Rage may proc twice in a row or not at all for a whole short fight. High-chance stones give steadier damage.
- AoE beats single target whenever you hit two or more enemies. At any grade, an AoE stone hitting two targets matches a single-target stone, and every extra target is a bonus.
- Damage-over-time stones need a caveat. One full Poison proc deals the most total damage, but the tooltip does not say whether a new proc refreshes or stacks on a target that is already poisoned. Treat it as roughly one Poison running at a time.
Best Theostone by role: DPS, tank and healer
These picks are our analysis of the effect table above, not usage statistics. Take the Unique version if you have it, otherwise the same effect at Epic or Rare.
| Role | PvE pick | PvP pick | Why |
|---|---|---|---|
| Multi-target DPS (Gladiator, Sorcerer, Ranger, Chanter) | Yustiel's Compassion or Tiamat's Counterstrike | Meslamtaeda's Greed (Stun) | AoE stones pay out per target; Stun shuts a player down for 3s |
| Fast single-target DPS (Assassin) | Tiamat's Rage | Ereshkigal's Honor (Paralyze) | Fast hits waste the fewest procs on a 1% stone |
| DoT DPS (Spiritmaster) | Zikel's Arrogance (Poison) | Beritra's Conspiracy (Seal) | Keeps a DoT up for passives that check for one; Seal shuts down skills for 5s |
| Tank (Templar, off-tank Gladiator) | Lumiel's Interference (-50% Combat Speed) | Nezekan's March (Root) | The only proc that slows how fast the target attacks; Root holds a player in place |
| Healer (Cleric, healing Chanter) | Beritra's Selfishness (20% Wind AoE) | Beritra's Conspiracy (Seal) | Healers attack less, so a steady high-chance stone; Seal to peel divers |
- Average damage is fixed per grade
- AoE versions scale with pack size
- Activation cooldown is only 1s
- Flat damage, no Attack scaling listed
- Stun, Seal, Paralyze, Root and Blind at 2% or 3%
- Unique durations: up to 7s for Blind and slows
- One proc every 5s at most
- Turn a lost duel on one lucky roll
VerdictRun a damage stone for dungeons and leveling, and keep a control stone ready for PvP. Our Abyss PvP guide covers where that matters.

How to get Theostones in AION 2
These are the sources we can confirm in the client's quest, shop, pass and reward tables. Notice what is missing: no monster drop table contains a Theostone, and they are not on the Hidden Cube reward list either.
| Source | What you get | Cost or limit |
|---|---|---|
| Regional quests (3 per faction) | Rare Theostone Chest (Bound), one per quest | Recommended level 45 |
| Abyss Trade Shop | Rare Theostone Selection Chest (Bound): pick any of the 17 Rare stones | 35,000 Abyss Points each |
| Season Shop | Rare Theostone Chest (Bound) | 17,500 Oath Coin, 10 per account per server, on sale until Dec 16, 2026 |
| Arena shop | Rare Theostone Chest (Bound) | 1 Arena Token, 5 per character per week |
| Daeva Pass | 2 Rare Theostone Chests (Bound) | Battle pass reward |
| Black Cloud Merchants | Rare and Epic Theostones (Bound) | Rotating random shop stock, levels 1 to 45 |
| Market | Tradeable Rare Theostones | Bought from other players for Kinah |
| Combining | Epic and Unique Theostones | The only verified source of Unique stones |
The six Regional quests are Search Party, Straggler Search and Learning to Let Go for the Elyos, and A Traitor Within, Restless Spirits and Regular Altar Maintenance for the Asmodians. Each also pays 100,000 Kinah alongside the chest, so they are worth doing at 45 even if you already have a stone.
Rare Theostone Chest odds
The Rare Theostone Chest says it "grants 1 type of Rare-grade Theostone based on a fixed probability". The chest table shows those probabilities, and they are far from even. The control stones are the rarest results.
| Effect | Chance per stone | Stones in group | Group total |
|---|---|---|---|
| Blind, Stun, Paralyze | 2.48% | 3 | 7.4% |
| Seal, Root | 3.31% | 2 | 6.6% |
| Move Speed, Combat Speed, Poison, Bleed | 4.96% | 4 | 19.8% |
| Single-target elemental (4 stones) | 9.92% | 4 | 39.7% |
| AoE elemental (4 stones) | 6.61% | 4 | 26.4% |
How to combine Theostones
Combining is how Rare stones become Epic and Epic stones become Unique. You register Theostones of one grade in the Combine window of the Theostone menu (there is an Auto Register button), and the result is a random stone from a fixed pool. The pool includes the same grade, so most combines do not upgrade. The odds per result grade come straight from the client's combine table:
| Combine | Same grade result | Upgrade result | Possible results |
|---|---|---|---|
| Rare Theostones | 88.9% Rare | 11.1% Epic | 34 |
| Epic Theostones | 90.9% Epic | 9.1% Unique | 34 |
| Unique Theostones | 100% Unique | None | 17 |
Within each grade the results follow the same weighting as the Rare chest above, so a Unique control stone is the hardest result to hit. Combining Unique stones never upgrades, but it does reroll a Unique you do not want into another Unique. The in-game probability popup notes that odds are rounded, so the totals may not add up to exactly 100%.
The game rewards combining with achievements: "Aiming Higher: Epic" pays Kinah (Bound) for 5, 10, 30, 60 and 100 Epic stones made from Rare ones, and "Aiming Higher: Unique" for 1, 5, 10, 30 and 50 Unique stones made from Epic ones. Engraving has its own set, the Divine Stone achievements, at 3, 5, 7 and 10 engravings per grade. Together the five chains pay 182,000 Kinah (Bound).
How to equip and replace a Theostone
- 1Use the Theostone item
Using it grants the Theostone and moves it to the Enhancement menu.
- 2Open the Theostone tab
In the Enhancement menu, choose Theostone. The game asks you to select the gear and the Theostone you wish to engrave.
- 3Pick an Epic or Unique weapon
Only those have a Theostone slot. Locked items cannot be engraved, so unlock the weapon first. Find a slotted one in the weapon database.
- 4Engrave and pay the fee
Press Engrave and confirm. Engraving costs Kinah; the game blocks it if you are short.
- 5Read the replace warning
If the weapon already has a Theostone, the popup says whether the old one will be returned or destroyed. Check it before you confirm.
Theostones are one layer of weapon progression. For enhancement rates, Amplified Enhancement and Manastones, see the AION 2 gear and enhancement guide and the enhancement calculator. The full sortable list lives on the Theostones page.

Guide FAQ
What is the best Theostone in AION 2?
For PvE, an AoE elemental Theostone such as Yustiel's Compassion is the best pick, because every damage stone of a grade averages the same damage and AoE stones pay out on up to four targets. For PvP, Meslamtaeda's Greed with its 3% chance to Stun for 3 seconds is the strongest control stone.
How do you get Theostones in AION 2?
Rare Theostones come from six Regional quests, the Abyss Trade Shop selection chest, the Season Shop, the Arena shop, the Daeva Pass, the Black Cloud Merchants and the Market. Epic stones also appear at the Black Cloud Merchants, and Unique stones come from combining Epic ones.
Are Theostones and Godstones the same thing?
Yes. Godstone is the older and Korean-version name. The global AION 2 client calls them Theostones, and they work as weapon engravings with a chance to proc on attack.
How does Theostone combining work?
You register Theostones of one grade in the Combine window and receive a random Theostone. Combining Rare stones gives an Epic one 11.1% of the time, combining Epic stones gives a Unique one 9.1% of the time, and combining Unique stones rerolls into another Unique.
Can you put two Theostones on one weapon?
No. Epic and Unique weapons have one Theostone slot, and Common and Rare weapons have none. The game also notes that identical Theostones only apply one effect.
Can you trade Theostones in AION 2?
Only the tradeable Rare Theostones can be sold on the Market. Epic and Unique Theostones and all Bound versions cannot be traded.
