How We Source Valor Mortis Data

Every number in this Valor Mortis database is read from the game's own files, calculated from them by a formula shown on this page, or taken from Steam's public achievement statistics. Here is which is which, and what the data can't tell you.

Game data: read from the PC client

Game data

We extract the data from the PC version of Valor Mortis (Steam app 2828710), build 25907482, the launch-day build of 13 October 2026. The game's data tables, curve tables, string tables and gameplay effects are exported from the client files and converted into the tables listed below. Nothing is scraped from other sites.

Names and descriptions use the game's own text in each of its eleven languages. Where the game ships no name (enemy attacks), we build one from its internal gameplay tag and mark it with an asterisk.

Positions (chests, keys, letters, Lanterns, bosses) are the placed actors in each level file: 2278 points in all. The game has no map texture, so the map art is rendered from each level’s own geometry: landscape heightmaps and placed meshes classed as terrain, buildings, roads and water, sliced at the height of the markers so caves and lower floors are not hidden under the ground above them.

The three labels you'll see

Each data section carries one of these labels, linked back here.

Game data The value is read straight from the game's files: Health, damage, prices, level costs, Amber values, quest steps, letter text.

Calculated The value is our arithmetic over game data, using the formulas below: hits to kill, total level costs, boss difficulty, nearest Lantern, who a letter mentions.

Steam stats The value comes from Steam's public global achievement statistics.

Formulas behind calculated numbers

Calculated

Each calculation, the formula and a worked example from the current data.

Formulas behind calculated numbers
NumberFormulaExample
Basic hit and hits to killhit = weapon damage × first light-attack multiplier × (1 − resistance) × body-part multiplier; hits = ⌈Health ÷ hit⌉Saber level 1 on a Risen Soldier (100 Health): 20 per hit, 5 hits.
Spread-gun shotsshot = damage cap per shot (every pellet lands at point-blank range)The Blunderbuss lists damage per pellet and a cap per shot; hits-to-kill tables use the cap, so they are a best case.
Level costscost(a → b) = sum of the per-level costs for levels a+1 … bLevel 2 costs 400, level 10 costs 2,566; levels 1 → 10 total 10,273 Catalysts, and 1 → 400 total 165,974,460 Catalysts.
Amber slotsslots at level L = how many slot-unlock levels are ≤ L5 slots, unlocked at levels 1, 3, 5, 7, 9.
Boss threat indexthreat = Health × average attack damage × (1 + share of unblockable attacks) ÷ 1000A relative ranking only; a boss that never strikes directly scores 0.
Nearest Lanternstraight-line distance from the position to each Lantern in the same level ÷ 100 (Unreal units are centimetres)Shown in metres; the path you walk can be longer.
Who a letter or quest mentionsa character's name appears as a whole word in the English title, steps or textTitles and nicknames are not matched, so the counts are a floor.
Amber values per rankthe effect's own parameters per rank, shown as % or seconds from the parameter's nameRank 2 is interpolated where the game defines only ranks 1 and 3, and flagged as such.

None of these include Ambers, skill-tree bonuses, coatings or weapon upgrades unless a page says so: they are planning floors, not a combat simulator.

Steam achievement statistics

Steam stats

Achievement icons and unlock rates come from Steam. The rates are Steam's public global achievement percentages, refreshed every six hours; if Steam can't be reached we show our launch-day snapshot instead. The game has 39 achievements.

Known caveats

What the game data can't tell you, and how we handle it.

  • Enemy levels 1–6 are per-placement scaling (Health, Catalysts, damage multiplier), not difficulty modes: Valor Mortis has a single difficulty. Each spawner in the level files records its level (unset means level 1), which is how enemy pages show the level and Health per region.
  • Boss phase thresholds are stored in units that differ from boss to boss, so we never show them as percentages.
  • Some Amber rank-2 values are interpolated between ranks 1 and 3 because the game's curve defines only those; such values are marked.
  • Enemy attack names are built from internal tags and exist only in English; their damage, type, timing and unblockable flag are the reliable parts.
  • The skill tree's in-game descriptions carry outdated numbers; we show the values from the gameplay effects instead.
  • There is no world map or minimap in the game files. Map pages plot recorded positions inside each level's bounds.
  • Achievements, merchants and enemy attacks ship without in-game images; achievement icons come from Steam.
  • The game has text in eleven languages. Czech, Thai and Vietnamese pages show game names and descriptions in English.
  • Quest steps, journal pages and letters cover the whole story, so they stay behind spoiler toggles on every page.
  • Data matches build 25907482. Patches can change numbers; we re-extract after updates and every page shows the build it was read from.

Spotted a wrong number? Use the report link at the bottom of any page and tell us which page and value; we check it against the game files.

Our Valor Mortis database is read from the PC game files, build 25907482: 10 bosses, 15 enemy types, 9 weapons, 29 Ambers, 24 side quests, 128 letters and 49 Lanterns. Calculated numbers (hits to kill, level costs up to 400, boss threat) use the formulas above and are labelled as such. Achievement rates are Steam's live global statistics.

Valor Mortis data FAQ

Where does this Valor Mortis data come from?

From the PC game files, Steam build 25907482, extracted on launch day. Achievement rates come from Steam's public statistics.

Which numbers are calculated rather than read from the game?

Hits to kill, total level costs, the boss threat ranking, nearest-Lantern distances and character mentions. They carry a Calculated label and the formulas are on this page.

Is the data up to date with the latest patch?

It matches build 25907482, shown at the bottom of every data section. We re-extract after game updates.

Does Valor Mortis have a map?

The game files contain no world map or minimap texture. We draw each region's map from its level geometry (placed meshes and landscape heights) and plot the 2278 recorded positions (Lanterns, chests, keys, letters, bosses) on it.

Why are some names in English?

Valor Mortis ships text in eleven languages. For Czech, Thai and Vietnamese we fall back to the game's English text, and enemy attack names exist only in English.

Is this an official Valor Mortis site?

No. MetaBot.GG is an unofficial fan site, not affiliated with One More Level or Lyrical Games.
