Which weapon should you use?

Calculated

There is no single best weapon: each one wins at something. These picks come straight from the numbers.

By the numbers, the Claymore is the strongest blade at every level (50 damage at level 1, 100 at level 10, 15 posture per hit) and needs the fewest hits on every boss: 50 light hits for Entity at level 10, against 84 with the Saber and 112 with the Rapier. Its price is defence, because it cannot parry, and availability, because it only turns up in Cursed Hollow, region 6.

The Saber is the all-rounder you start with: it blocks and parries, its damage triples from 20 to 60, and its critical attack carries a 15x multiplier (10x on the Rapier and Claymore). The Rapier trades damage (25 to 45, the lowest at max level) for the best parry in the game, 150 posture per perfect parry, but it cannot block at all.

Among firearms, the Musket (150 to 300 per shot, full damage to 99 m) and the Blunderbuss (150 to 350 per point-blank shot, full damage only to 3 m) are the damage dealers and share Special Cartridges; the Pistol (30 to 60, five rounds, full damage to 20 m) is the utility gun for Weak Points, headshots and coated rounds. Of the Transmutations, Fire is the early crowd tool, Stasis the strongest single-target payoff (a 5-segment freeze breaks for 550), and the Shield the late defence that blocks red attacks once upgraded to level 4.

  • Strongest from the startMusket hits hardest at level 1: 150 per hit.
  • Highest blade damageClaymore reaches 100 damage per hit at max level.
  • Highest firearm damageBlunderbuss deals up to 350 per shot at max level.
  • Biggest charged attackClaymore lands 125 with its first charged attack at level 1.
  • Best posture breakerClaymore deals 37.5 posture damage with its first charged attack at level 1.
  • Best for parryingRapier deals 150 posture damage on a perfect parry, the most of any blade.
  • Longest attack rangeSaber has the longest attack range value (4 m).
  • Cheapest to swingRapier costs only 15 stamina per light attack.
  • Most damage per clipBlunderbuss fires 300 damage per full clip at level 1.
  • Ammo and reloadPistol holds the most rounds (5), while Musket reloads fastest (2.5 s).
  • Breaking weak pointsRapier can destroy Nephtoglobin weak points with its attacks.
