The ship's cargo manifest at the village port indicates that Napoleon's precious chest was placed in its hold. I'd bet my blade it wasn't done with headquarters' consent.
- 2
Toothless Jack, a smuggler from the bay, decided to eliminate his greatest rival, Captain Crusty Benek from the Bay, through an ingenious ploy. He chose not to destroy Crusty Benek by force, but through manipulation, warning him not to open the crate while fully expecting him to do exactly the opposite. I wonder if he succeeded?
- 3
A letter from Toothless Jack, a smuggler and captain of the Black Tide, though laced with insults, clearly suggests he was trying to warn his friend not to open the chest they carried.
- 4
A grim discovery — I have found Crusty Benek's plague-infested body in his home. He had opened the chest the French had transported Nephtoglobin in, even though Toothless Jack warned him not to. A sad end to someone who might have been a great King of Smugglers.
- 5Final entry
Hard to believe, but Toothless Jack's plan succeeded. Crusty Benek couldn't resist and opened the chest — the plague hidden inside immediately claimed his life. Toothless Jack probably became the King of Smugglers after all. And he didn't even have to raise his blade to achieve it.
