AION 2 Tier List: Best Class for PvE, PvP and Solo
AION 2 tier list for launch: all 8 classes ranked for PvE, PvP, solo and beginners, scored from datamined skill kits with every placement explained.
This AION 2 tier list ranks all eight launch classes for group PvE, PvP, solo play and new players, and picks the best class for each. It isn't built on win rates. The global servers open on October 5 and nobody has meaningful global data yet. We scored each class from its skill kit in the global client (2.0.3.0): crowd control, range, mobility, healing, party buffs and the cooldowns on its Stigma skills.
That makes this a launch list based on kit analysis. Every placement below names the skills and numbers behind it, so you can disagree with the weighting and still use the data. We will re-rank the list once global ranking data exists.
How this AION 2 tier list was scored
Every class has 12 active skills, 10 passives and 13 Stigma skills, and all eight share the exact same base stat growth table. HP, Defense and fixed damage rise identically per level whichever class you pick. So the differences between classes come entirely from skills, passives and weapons. We read the 25 active and Stigma skills of each class and counted what actually decides fights.
| Axis | What we counted | Why it matters |
|---|---|---|
| Solo | Self-healing and lifesteal, multi-target attacks, range, emergency defensives | Open-world questing and farming without a party |
| PvE group | Party-wide heals, shields and buffs, role (Tank/Healer), multi-target damage | Party dungeons and raids reward role coverage first |
| PvP | Hard crowd control, anti-heal, buff removal, stealth, immunity and escapes | Fights against players are decided by control and counterplay |
| Beginner | Range, number of conditional skills, built-in sustain, positioning demands | How forgiving the kit is while you learn |
"Hard crowd control" means any skill that can Stun, Knock Down, launch Airborne, Root, Seal, Fear, Frost, Blind, Polymorph, Taunt, pull or knock back. One detail shapes the PvP scores: most control skills in AION 2 lands 100% of the time on NPCs but only on a chance against players. Wrath Wave, for example, has a 50% Knockdown chance on players. Raw CC counts therefore matter more in PvE than in PvP, where buff removal, immunity and anti-heal carry extra weight.
| Class | Role (client) | Damage | Skills with 20m+ range | Skills with 5m range or less | Hard CC skills | Multi-target attacks | Party-wide skills |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Gladiator | Tank, Dealer | Physical | 3 | 13 | 8 | 10 | 0 |
| Templar | Tank | Mostly physical | 7 | 9 | 9 | 10 | 2 |
| Assassin | Dealer | Physical | 5 | 11 | 9 | 7 | 0 |
| Ranger | Dealer | Physical | 16 | 1 | 8 | 11 | 0 |
| Sorcerer | Dealer | Magic | 19 | 0 | 6 (+3 Slows) | 11 | 0 |
| Spiritmaster | Dealer | Magic | 21 | 0 | 4 (+spirit CC) | 11 | 0 |
| Cleric | Healer | Magic | 13 | 0 | 2 | 8 | 8 |
| Chanter | Healer, Dealer | Mostly physical | 8 | 6 | 7 | 9 | 7 |
AION 2 PvE tier list: best class for dungeons and raids
Group PvE is where roles matter most. A party needs someone to hold enmity, someone to keep it alive and as much shared damage as possible. Only three classes bring party-wide tools in their kit, and all three sit at the top.
| Tier | Class | Why |
|---|---|---|
| S | Cleric | The only pure Healer. 5 healing skills, Summon Resurrection, Light of Protection (+10.5% PvE damage and damage tolerance for nearby party members) and a 20% party damage tolerance cooldown. |
| S | Chanter | Seven party-wide skills: a party heal, a 16% Max HP party shield, the same 10.5% damage-and-tolerance toggle, and Power of the Storm, which cuts party cooldowns by 10%. |
| S | Templar | The only pure Tank. Nezekan's Shield gives the whole party a 41% Max HP shield, Comrade in Arms splits a party member's damage with you, and the passive Fury buffs the party on Block. |
| A | Sorcerer | 11 multi-target attacks, 19 skills at 20m range and a three-stage charged nuke. Pure damage with no party utility, but the safest damage profile in boss fights. |
| A | Ranger | 11 multi-target attacks, 16 skills at 20m range and a 60-second Stigma that stuns up to 4 targets. Strong uptime from range. |
| A | Gladiator | 10 multi-target attacks and an off-tank kit. Its passive Experienced Counterstrike grants the party 5.4% PvE Damage Boost on Block. |
| B | Spiritmaster | Strong damage over time and 11 multi-target attacks, but no party-wide skills. Its damage amplifier only boosts its own spirit. |
| B | Assassin | The fewest multi-target attacks (7) and positional bonuses that need you behind the target. Excellent single-target damage, the weakest kit for trash pulls. |
One synergy note for party building: the Cleric's Light of Protection and the Chanter's Undefeated Mantra are the same 10.5% buff and do not stack. Only the higher-level one applies, and Undefeated Mantra wins a tie. A party running both classes should have one of them use that Stigma slot for something else.
AION 2 PvP tier list: best class for PvP
For PvP we weighted control that still works on players, ways to remove or deny healing and buffs, and tools that keep you alive or let you pick fights. Every class shares Defiance, a level-16 skill that removes Stun, Knockdown, Airborne, Grab, Frost and Fear and grants immunity for 5 seconds, so what separates classes is everything else.
| Tier | Class | Why |
|---|---|---|
| S | Assassin | 9 hard CC skills, two stealth Stigmas, a guaranteed-evasion Stigma, buff removal (Spiral Slice), poison anti-heal and Triniel's Dagger, which lengthens all of the target's cooldowns. |
| S | Sorcerer | 6 hard CC skills plus 3 Slows, including the only Polymorph (10 seconds) and an Airborne. Fights from 20m and has Hibernation for 5 seconds of damage immunity. |
| A | Ranger | 8 hard CC skills from range, Stealth, a 75% Seal and Drill Dart's 60% healing reduction. |
| A | Gladiator | 8 hard CC skills, Blade Toss (-30% Defense and -50% Incoming Heal on a 20-second cooldown) and Tenaciousness for 3 seconds of immunity. Melee only, so it needs gap closers. |
| A | Spiritmaster | Three Fear skills, a Seal, Seize Magic (removes up to 2 buffs) and Siphon, which drains 300 MP. Its Earth Spirit can Taunt players. |
| A | Templar | 9 hard CC skills including two pulls, a Taunt that works on players and the tankiest passives. Lower damage keeps it out of S. |
| B | Chanter | 7 hard CC skills and Barrier Spell, which stops party HP from dropping below 10% for 3 seconds. Strongest in group fights rather than duels. |
| B | Cleric | Only 2 hard CC skills, but Salvation (3 seconds of immunity), Voice of Doom (60% healing and potion reduction) and resurrection make it vital in organized group PvP. |
Best class for beginners and the best solo class
For solo play we looked at what keeps you alive between potions: lifesteal, self-heals, pets that take aggro and emergency defensives, plus how many mobs you can hit at once. For beginner-friendliness we penalized kits that rely on positioning or setup (back attacks, stack counting, spirit management) and rewarded built-in sustain.
| Class | Solo | Beginner | Deciding data |
|---|---|---|---|
| Gladiator | 5 | 5 | Blood Absorption heals on hit and restores 26% Max HP below half health; 10 multi-target attacks; no setup needed |
| Spiritmaster | 5 | 3 | Earth Spirit holds enmity, Wind Spirit heals you, Siphon lifesteals; 15 skills castable while moving |
| Ranger | 4 | 4 | 16 skills at 20m and traps; only 1 attack needs you within 5m |
| Templar | 4 | 3 | The tankiest kit and Warding Strike self-heals, but slower to kill and you will be asked to tank |
| Sorcerer | 4 | 3 | Huge range and kiting tools, but one of only two classes without a Max HP passive |
| Chanter | 4 | 3 | Two self-heals and Protection Circle shields, but it plays as a hybrid |
| Cleric | 3 | 3 | Self-heals make it hard to kill, but it has only 2 hard CC skills and 8 multi-target attacks |
| Assassin | 3 | 2 | Back-attack bonuses and Insignia stacks to manage; fewest multi-target attacks |
- Melee with simple, mostly unconditional skills
- Blood Absorption and Lifestealing Blade keep you topped up
- Can off-tank later, so groups always want you
- Earth Spirit pulls enmity off you
- Wind Spirit and Spirit Communion heal you
- 21 skills at 20m range
- Almost every attack works at 20m
- Snare Shot sets up Burst Arrow on its own
- Stealth lets you skip fights
VerdictNew to MMOs: Gladiator. Want to play alone most of the time: Spiritmaster. Want range without pets: Ranger.
Best healer and support class in AION 2
The Cleric is the best healer: it is the only class the client tags purely as Healer, and it carries five dedicated healing skills. Healing Light runs on a 6-second cooldown and targets the lowest-HP party member, Absolution removes up to 2 debuffs with a big party heal, and Summon Resurrection brings a fallen party member back from up to 40m.
The Chanter is the best support. It is tagged as both Healer and Dealer, and its strength is multiplying the party rather than topping it up. Power of the Storm grants party members 20% Combat Speed and 10% shorter cooldowns, and Barrier Spell is the only skill in any class kit that stops the whole party's HP from dropping below 10%. If you want to heal, pick the Cleric. If you want to buff and still deal damage, pick the Chanter.
AION 2 class reviews: every class explained
Gladiator: best beginner class, A tier PvE
The Gladiator is a greatsword frontliner tagged Tank and Dealer. 13 of its skills have a range of 5m or less, but it is built to survive there. Blood Absorption restores HP on hit, Ruinous Blow (level 14) hits up to 4 enemies and grants Prepare for Battle (+20% PvE Damage Boost for 20 seconds), and Wrath Wave is a 60-second Stigma that knocks down up to 4 enemies. For PvP, Blade Toss is the standout: 20m range, a 20-second cooldown, and it cuts the target's Defense by 30% and healing received by 50%.
Templar: the only pure tank, S tier PvE
The Templar is the client's only class tagged purely as Tank, and its kit backs that up. It has 9 hard CC skills, including two pulls (Poach and Grapple), and three party-protection tools. Nezekan's Shield shields the caster and every party member within 40m for 41% of Max HP. Punishment is a three-stage charged skill that also grants the Executor buff (+200 Accuracy, +20% PvE Damage Boost). Its damage is modest, which is the only thing keeping it out of the top PvP tier.
Assassin: best PvP class, B tier PvE
The Assassin has dual daggers, stealth and the deepest control kit for duels. Its damage runs through Insignia stacks: Savage Fang applies all 5 at once, which maxes out Insignia Explosion (up to a 50% Stun chance at 5 stacks). Shadow Walk grants 20 seconds of out-of-combat Stealth, and Triniel's Dagger deals 30% more damage from behind while stretching the target's cooldowns. In PvE it has only 7 multi-target attacks, the fewest of any class.
Ranger: safest ranged damage, A tier everywhere
The Ranger fights almost entirely at 20m: 16 of its 25 skills reach that far, and only Ambush Kick needs you within 5m. Arrow Storm hits up to 4 targets with a Stun, Deadshot is a three-stage charged shot that hits 35% harder with Precision active, and Drill Dart applies a Bleed that cuts healing received by 60%. It has no party utility, but nothing in its kit is hard to execute.
Sorcerer: top-tier PvP control, A tier PvE
The Sorcerer has the most varied crowd control: Root, Frost, Seal, Airborne, three Slows and the game's only Polymorph, Curse: Tree, which turns a player into a tree for 10 seconds. Hellfire is a three-stage charged nuke on up to 4 targets, and Hibernation grants 5 seconds of damage and status immunity. The class description warns of lower HP and Defense, and the data agrees: the Sorcerer has no Max HP passive.
Spiritmaster: best solo class, B tier PvE
The Spiritmaster lets its spirits do the frontline work. Summon: Earth Spirit builds 3,750 Enmity per skill use, so monsters chase the pet instead of you. Its damage is mostly damage over time: Jointstrike: Corrode ticks every second for 20 seconds and adds a spirit-specific follow-up. In PvP, Seize Magic strips up to 2 buffs and three different skills inflict Fear. It has no party-wide skills, which keeps it in B tier for group content.
Cleric: best healer, S tier PvE
The Cleric is the healer every party looks for. Beyond its five healing skills, Light of Protection is a toggle that gives the party 10.5% PvE Damage Boost and Damage Tolerance, and Yustiel's Power adds 20% PvE Damage Tolerance to everyone within 40m. Its offensive Stigma Voice of Doom cuts enemy healing and potion recovery by 60% for 20 seconds. That is its best PvP tool, alongside Salvation's 3 seconds of immunity.
Chanter: best support, S tier PvE
The Chanter fights with a staff, mostly in melee and mid range, and carries seven skills that affect the whole party. Undefeated Mantra is the party damage-and-tolerance toggle, Power of the Storm speeds up everyone's cooldowns, and Marchutan's Wrath is a 30-second, 4-target hit that opens a window for Dark Crush. It has 7 hard CC skills, but its value is in groups, which is why it sits in B tier for PvP but S tier for PvE.

Guide FAQ
What is the best class in AION 2?
There is no single best class. For group PvE the Cleric, Chanter and Templar rank highest because they are the only classes with party-wide heals, shields or buffs. For PvP the Assassin and Sorcerer have the strongest kits, and the Gladiator is the best all-round pick for new players.
What is the easiest class in AION 2?
The Gladiator is the easiest class. Its skills rarely need setup, its Blood Absorption passive heals on hit and restores 26% Max HP when you drop below half, and it has ten attacks that hit up to four enemies.
What is the best solo class in AION 2?
The Spiritmaster and Gladiator are the best solo classes. The Spiritmaster has an Earth Spirit that holds enemy attention and a Wind Spirit that heals it, while the Gladiator heals itself on hit and survives in melee.
Which AION 2 class is best for healing?
The Cleric is the only class tagged purely as a healer and has five healing skills plus a resurrection Stigma. The Chanter is a hybrid that can heal but is strongest as a party buffer.
Do AION 2 classes have different base stats?
No. All eight classes share the same base stat growth table for HP, Defense and fixed damage. Class differences come from their 35 skills, their passives and their weapons.
Is this tier list based on win rates?
No. The global servers launch on October 5, so there is no reliable global data yet. This list scores each class from its skill kit in the global client, and we will re-rank it once global ranking data exists.
