Let me put it bluntly, as my fingers are freezing in this goddamned cold.
You complain of a 'lack of readiness'. I complain of a lack of basic physics in your expectations. When the ministry saw fit to issue your regiment these new muskets, they forgot to consult the men who actually have to drag the war behind them in a wagon. Your new weapons require triple the typical powder and a specialized ball that weighs more than the standard. I trust you can do the sums, Colonel, even if you are an infantryman.
I am currently scouring the countryside for draft oxen, as the local peasantry have hidden their horses in the woods to keep us from 'liberating' them. Until I find them, you will receive your scheduled shipment and nothing more.
If you find this unsatisfactory, you are welcome to explain your 'tactical necessities' to the nearest tree. It will surely be a very captive audience.
