My heart swells with pride upon hearing of your promotion to the Eternal Guard. You have always been a man of faith, honor, and duty, just as your mother and I raised you to be. I still remember you as a child, kneeling in prayer until your knees were bruised, always giving more of yourself than was asked.
But that has always been my greatest worry. You have a noble heart, my son, yet you sacrifice yourself to the cause with passion that can easily become your demise.
Serve with honor, son! But do not forget temperance, or you might be swallowed by the beast of devotion.
