    I stumbled upon a body that someone had, as if in some cruel joke, made into a scarecrow. What had this poor man done to deserve such treatment? There's the mark of a medallion around his neck, and one of his pockets has been ripped out. Perhaps I can find both items taken from the deceased.

    I was able to retrieve the medallion. No doubt it belonged to the poor scarecrow fellow.

    I've found the scarecrow's treasured possession, the one ripped from his pocket. It's a love note from the woman he had been meeting in secret.

    I now have both items — I'd better bring them back to the scarecrow.

    I brought both of the items to the scarecrow and noticed an unusual phenomenon — the moment the scarecrow had been reunited with his treasures, the crows flew away. I wonder where? Maybe I should follow them.

    Final entry

    I followed the crows and uncovered the grievous truth of the scarecrow's fate. His romance with a local woman stirred the fierce jealousy of the town's soldier, who slew him and left his remains on grotesque display. I can only hope that, in returning his property unto him, the poor soul may find some measure of peace in the afterlife.
