The greater part of our detachment is now struck by the plague. We are stripped of ammunition, food, and supplies, and were forced to take refuge in the canals beneath the city. What awaited us there proved no kinder than the ruin above.

Many became lost in those black corridors, others succumbed to sickness, and some lost their reason entirely.

I have not seen daylight in three weeks and, I no longer know where the exit lies. My sense of direction utterly broken.

I know I shall perish here.

I pray only that death comes swiftly
