SpoilerFull text of the letter
My Radiant Amelie,
Every day I march, I carry the thought of you, my sweet. How I ache for your embrace; your soft skin and merry smile give me strength amidst this grim campaign.
The locals here are savages, led by a coward they call the Shrike, clinging to ignorance and refusing the wisdom we bring. But we, under Napoleon, are the light in their darkness. I am a torchbearer for the Emperor's vision, marching to civilise and show them France's greatness.
Soon, I will return to you, victorious and full of stories, ready to worship you as I always have.
Yours forever,
Jules
