How to complete The Emissary
Game dataA step-by-step walkthrough built from the quest's journal entries, clue letters and reward data.
- Pick up the Emissary's Seal in the abandoned camp on the far side of the bridge Nephtoglobin destroyed; the area is infested, so you may need to come back once you can get through.
- Find the letter in the ruined mill (step 2): a traitor told the rebels about the officers' meeting with Napoleon's Emissary there. The Emissary's Letter lies about 213 m from the Old Windmill Lantern in the Vale of Wrath.
- Go to the place where the Emissary abandoned their wagon and vanished (step 3) — the journal suggests the place itself still remembers what happened.
- Read the escort's Denunciatory Letter (about 101 m from The Other Side Lantern) describing the Emissary's strange behaviour (step 4), then find the escort's bodies (step 5).
- The quest closes on an open question (step 6). Reward: none.

- 1
I found an Emissary's seal in the abandoned camp near the bridge destroyed by Nephtoglobin. Why abandon the most important possesion an emissary could have? Something doesn't add up here but I can't get through there with all this infestation...
- 2
In the ruined mill I found a letter indicating that the French officers had a traitor among their ranks. This person informed the rebels about the officers' meeting with Napoleon's Emissary at the mill; this person is responsible for their deaths. All of the officers died, but one question remains: did Napoleon's Emissary survive the ambush?
- 3
This is where Napoleon's Emissary vanished after leaving their wagon behind. Perhaps this place still remembers what happened.
- 4
I have found a letter from the Emissary's Escort stating that they were behaving erratically, not bothered by the dangerous circumstances they've found themselves in. Were they that unaware of the danger?
- 5
All of the men escorting the Emissary are dead, and the manner of their deaths is even more unsettling. It looks as though they barely had time to realize their lives were in danger. Did someone in the camp collaborate with the rebels?
- 6Final entry
I cannot shake the feeling that there is a dark presence behind all of this - someone who takes pleasure in the chaos and devastation left in their wake. Is this presence the Emissary, or someone else entirely?
