How cold each biome gets (−23 °C to −55 °C), how hot each heat source is, and every modifier that makes it colder or milder — cold zones, weather, shelter and the night — from the game's temperature profiles.
Every biome has a base temperature tier. Outside a biome the default is −25 °C.
Tier numbers are the game's own; which area uses which tier isn't part of the exported data. Tier 2 has no temperature set in this build.
Data: Permafrost game files, build 0.44.2.4552-playtest. Rebuilt whenever the game updates. How we source this
How hot each heat source is. Stand close and you get the Warmed status.
Every brazier tier uses the same +60 °C profile, so a cheap brazier warms as well as an upgraded one. The campfire's profile isn't linked to a part in the data, so it isn't listed with a number.
Profiles that scale the cold while they apply. Above ×1 it bites harder; below ×1 you're protected.
| Modifier | Cold × | Statuses | Switches off |
|---|---|---|---|
| Cold Zone | ×1.6 | the day/night swing, heat sources | |
| Blizzard | ×1.3 | heat sources | |
| Snowfall | ×1.3 | — | heat sources |
| White Hell cold zone | ×1.2 | the day/night swing, heat sources | |
| Fog (day) | ×1.1 | — | — |
| Fog (night) | ×1.1 | — | — |
| High altitude | ×0.8 | — | — |
| Sheltered | ×0.7 | — | Blizzard |
| Safehouse | ×0.4 | the day/night swing, Cold Zone |
These are multipliers on the cold, not degrees. Some also switch other profiles off — a safehouse cancels the day/night swing and cold zones, and shelter cancels the blizzard.
Cold zones stop you building and hurt you every second. Which status you get depends on whether you meet the zone's condition.
Zone multipliers: Cold Zone ×1.6, White Hell cold zone ×1.2. The game's hint: use clothing and heaters to boost Cold Resistance before going in.
The game's day curve scales the cold by the hour. It steps, not slides: ×1.25 through the night, ×1 in the day.

Night runs 19:00–07:00. Travel in daylight when you can.
Weather scales the cold too. Full timings and odds are on the weather page.
What the game itself tells you about cold resistance, freezing endurance and staying warm.
Some areas are dangerously cold. Without proper gear, you’ll lose body heat fast. Use clothing and heaters to boost Cold Resistance. Move carefully, use cover, and seek shelter. Cold Zones often hide rare loot and key locations.
Heater is a piece of equipment that boosts cold resistance and keeps the body warm.
Can be obtained through trading, exploration, or quest completion.
Useful for surviving low temperatures, but only for a limited time.
Stay warm with clothes, heat sources, or shelter, without them, you’ll take damage. Heaters give cold resistance but don't last long, so bring extras. Use the bottom-left icons to track Body Warmth, Health, Hunger, Energy and Stamina.
Set up your Tent anywhere (except no-build zones) to restore Energy, though it will take a few in-game hours.
Stay near active fires or heaters to raise your body temperature.
Watch the icon in the bottom-left corner, it shows the current area temperature. The shield icon next to it shows your Body Warmth, which starts to drop if the temperature falls below it.
CR (Cold Resistance) represents the highest temperature you can withstand without losing FE (Freezing Endurance).
FE (Freezing Endurance) is a character stat based on clothing. It represents cold endurance. Better clothing = more FE points. FE is displayed as a temperature bar at the bottom center of the screen. If FE hits 0, your Health starts decreasing.
Always keep an eye on the current temperature and your CR. If you plan to enter colder areas, leave them before depleting your FE.
Each biome has a temperature tier, from −23 °C (tier 1) down to −55 °C (tier 8); outside a biome the default is −25 °C. Heat sources fight back: Barrel Brazier (+60 °C), Basket Brazier (+60 °C), Bowl Brazier (+60 °C), Enhanced Barrel Brazier (+60 °C), Fireplace (+50 °C). Stay close for 5 s and you're Warmed for 30 s, gaining warmth ×2 faster and losing it ×0.5 as fast. Cold zones scale the cold ×1.6, block building and drain health — 2/s with the zone's condition met, 10/s without. Shelter scales it ×0.7 and a safehouse ×0.4, while night runs ×1.25 colder from 19:00 to 07:00.

The coldest biome tier sits at −55 °C (tier 8) and the mildest at −23 °C. Weather, cold zones and the night all scale that cold further.
Barrel Brazier at +60 °C. Every brazier tier gives the same +60 °C, so the cheapest brazier is as warm as the best one.
The game scales the cold ×1.25 from 19:00 to 07:00, and ×1 during the day.
An area that scales the cold ×1.6, blocks building and hurts you every second: Bone-Chilling Cold (2/s) with the zone's condition met, Deadly Cold Zone (10/s) without.
Yes. Being sheltered scales the cold ×0.7 and cancels the blizzard's profile; a safehouse scales it ×0.4.
