How warmth works

Insulation offsets cold; armor reduces hits.

Each piece of clothing carries a thermal insulation value; your body warmth drops slower the more insulation you wear, which is what keeps the cold status tiers away in cold zones and storms. Frost armor and light armor reduce damage from those sources; damage reduction is a flat percentage.

Clothing wears while worn (durability decay) and is repaired with cloth or hide at a tailoring bench, so a warmer piece that is expensive to repair may cost more over a long trip than a slightly cooler one.

Permafrost has 82 pieces of clothing across 8 slots; the warmest single piece is the Permafrost Boots (50 insulation, Feet). Wearing the best piece in every slot (Permafrost Cloak, Permafrost Jacket, Permafrost Pants, Permafrost Boots, Permafrost Gloves, Casual Backpack, Chemical Heater, Metropolis Scarf) totals 255 insulation, 270 frost armor, 217 light armor and 50% damage reduction. Use the planner to trade warmth for armor or cost, then share the outfit with the link.

Warmth planner FAQ

What is the warmest outfit in Permafrost?

Permafrost Cloak, Permafrost Jacket, Permafrost Pants, Permafrost Boots, Permafrost Gloves, Casual Backpack, Chemical Heater, Metropolis Scarf: 255 total insulation, 270 frost armor and 50% damage reduction. The warmest single piece is the Permafrost Boots at 50.

How does thermal insulation work?

Insulation values from every worn piece add up and slow how fast body warmth drops in the cold. Higher totals let you stay longer in cold zones before the cold status tiers set in.

What are frost armor and light armor?

They are the two armor values clothing carries in the game data (FROST and LIGHT), each reducing damage of that type; damage reduction is a separate flat percentage. The planner sums all three.

Can I share my outfit?

Yes — the selection is stored in the page URL (?o=…). Copy the link and anyone opening it sees the same outfit.
