How to get Transmutation Artifex
Game dataIn-game condition: “Upgrade a single Transmutation to maximum.”
Transmutation Artifex unlocks when any one Transmutation reaches level 5, its maximum. Louis's Laboratoire does the upgrades, and one Transmutation from level 1 to 5 costs 2 Crude, 2 Pure, 2 Distilled and 1 Quintessential Transmutation Material.
Quintessential is the limit: Louis never sells it, and only two are placed, one in the University and one in the Fortress. Distilled Material is placed in eight regions, sold by Louis for 8,000 Catalysts after Chapter IX, and is also the reward for choosing “Let Her Sleep” in the side quest Sleeping Beauty (Cursed Hollow), together with 2,000 Catalysts.
The Fire Transmutation is the natural pick: you have it from Chapter I, its damage rises from 15 to 20 and its Ignite damage from 4 to 6. Its level 4 and 5 traits add a wider or longer flame and then either explosions when you shoot Ignited enemies (Unstable Blaze) or longer Ignite from melee hits (Never-Ending Inferno).
