Black Metal Tower Shield blocks 104–116, scaled on top of that by your Blocking skill. It has no parry bonus at all, which is the trade every tower shield makes: it holds far more than a buckler and cannot be used to open a stagger window.

Black Metal Tower Shield changes your movement speed by -10%. Valheim adds that figure up across everything equipped — both hands, all four armour slots, the utility slot and the trinket — so a heavy set with a shield reaches a number you can feel, and it applies to the stamina that running and jumping drain as well as to speed.

Black Metal Tower Shield has 200–300 durability, and can be repaired for free at a crafting station that covers it — repairing costs nothing but the trip, so there is never a reason to carry a worn one home.
