Valheim Building FAQ
How many building pieces are in Valheim?
There are 430, grouped into 6 categories matching the in-game build menus. 76 of them contribute comfort toward the Rested buff.
What do I need to build in Valheim?
A hammer and a workbench for most pieces; stone pieces need a stonecutter. Each piece lists its exact material cost and the station it requires.
Why is my Valheim building collapsing?
Because a piece is too far from the ground through supporting pieces. Every piece carries the load down a chain, and each link weakens it; a wooden beam run out far enough will fall no matter how it looks. Stone and iron carry further than wood.
How do you stop buildings rotting in the rain?
Put a roof over them. Wooden pieces left exposed lose health continuously until they break, and a roof stops it entirely — the single most common cause of a base falling apart while you were away.
How many comfort pieces does Valheim have?
76 of the 430 build pieces raise comfort, which is what sets the length of the Rested buff. Comfort does not stack within a group, so two chairs are worth the same as one.
