Crafting Planner

Pick anything craftable in Valheim and see the full raw material cost, expanded through both recipes and station conversions. Smelting is not a recipe, so a planner that reads only recipes cannot tell you an iron bar needs scrap and coal. Upgrade costs through quality 4 are included, along with every station involved.

Work out the full raw-material cost of anything craftable, expanded through both recipes and station conversions. Smelting is not a recipe in Valheim, so a planner that only reads recipes cannot tell you an iron bar needs scrap plus coal. This one does.

Valheim Crafting Planner FAQ

How much does it cost to fully upgrade an item in Valheim?

Set the quality selector to 4 and the total includes every upgrade step, not just the initial craft. That total is the number most references leave out.

Does this include smelting in Valheim?

Yes. Ore is expanded down to what you actually mine, and the stations involved are listed, because smelting and cooking are station conversions rather than recipes.

What counts as a raw material in Valheim?

Anything no recipe produces — 251 things, out of the 428 the planner can make from 429 recipes. Those are the leaves of the crafting tree and therefore the only things a shopping list can ever bottom out at: everything else is just another recipe waiting to be expanded.

How many crafting stations does Valheim have?

9 appear across the 429 recipes. The station is as much a gate as the materials are, which is why a plan can look affordable and still be impossible — the planner lists both, because carrying the ore home is no use if the forge to smelt it does not exist yet.

Does the planner include upgrade costs?

Yes, and it has to, because upgrades do not cost a simple multiple. Above the first quality the base requirement is replaced rather than added to, and the multiplier changes again in the upper levels, so totalling an upgrade by multiplying the level-one cost gives the wrong answer — which is exactly the mistake the planner exists to avoid.
